New discovery: Prevent route points from being renamed when loaded on to the XT

First of all. What are route points? Refer to this page for the definition: https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/app.php/ZXT-P04 What is the problem? When you create a route in Basecamp and change the names of the route points to something meaningful and subsequently transfer the route to the XT, it wil...

Re: ZUMO XT2 CONCLUSIONS

In addition, @FrankB has concluded that route points set with the default subclass field do not have their name changed. My tests on this failed - but I suspect a faulty test on my part rather than a disagreement with Frank. I got sidetracked for about a year on the RUT issue. John, My observations...

If you want to have a look at the map I made for Iran, send me a private message with your email address. I can send it to you via wetransfer. It just over 550 Mb.

Re: strange characters with OSM in Central Asia

There is an option in MKGMAP: name-tag-list=name:en,int_name,name It specifies to get in this order: the english name, the international name the local name. This option does work, but in your example of Iran a lot of places dont have an English name in OSM, so it will only help a little. I have no ...

Re: strange characters with OSM in Central Asia

I haven't got a solution, but I can tell you more about the problem. - Most, if not all, OSM maps are created by a program called MKGMAP. This program has a few options to set the character set. --code-page = xxxx --latin --unicode For most European, and US countries, --latin is just fine. For Asia ...

Re: max speed on power up

you're +60 and can walk 15 kmh? I'd say you're in tip-top shape. well done Actually I cant believe it myself. The remark was to show that the Max Speed the XT displays should not be taken to seriously. If you search this forum you can find some posts, that question the data. Probably caused by how ...

Re: max speed on power up

I want to keep Trip B recording my total distance. OK. Understand I took the XT for a walk and managed to get the max speed to 15 kmh, not bad for 60+ years. I tried some combinations and it looks like 'Overall Data + Reset Max Speed' does what you want. Trip B is retained and the Max speed is rese...

Re: max speed on power up

Settings>Device>Travel History That was the fist thing I tried. Had no effect. As a last resort, a hard reset to factory settings will often correct strange behavior, especially after a firmware update. Did not try that, but should work. keefffff Why not just rest Trip B also? Do you want to keep it?
