Re: Waypoints to Shaping points
Hey Del, I can't 100% confirm it's the same on the 590, but on the 595 you can do it by clicking on the Via Point or Shaping Point icon in the list that appears after you select the trip from the Trip Planner (but before you click the Go! button). On the 595 Shaping Points are a blue circle and Via ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
Thanks once again jfheath. As usual your information is clear, detailed and easy to understand. I can see situations where each of your proposed methods for restarting/rejoining a route would be appropriate. In any case they both sound doable. I’m off now to start my testing. It s ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
Thanks so much for chiming in again jfheath. You have already helped me enormously with your document which, although I haven’t yet reached the end, has given me enough insight to plan a few local routes in order to confirm expected behaviours before I plan the next major route in ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
Thanks for the assurances rbentnail. I totally realise I will have to change how I plan routes in the future. I guess my beef is that all I want when I start a route that I have imported from Basecamp is to have the option to just follow it The fact that I can’t do that seems like a glaring omission ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
You may well be right but I guess we’ll just have to agree to disagree. :) I‘m not a gambler and I don’t want to get into an argument with anyone but I’d be willing to wager most people, when selecting a planned trip, would want the default behaviour to be to follow the route I’ve told it to take. Th ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
I’m not sure it’s just a wording change that is required here. In my opinion that screen is completely unnecessary. It knows the exact route I want to take, it knows where I am on that route - it should just start navigating it (as it used to do). If you weren’t at the start of the route it would pro ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
Thanks John. I suspect I had initiated “sulk mode” by disabling auto route recalculation as one of the myriad of things I I’ve tried. More experimenting to be done but it’s good to know I should be able to get it working at least to some degree. It really shouldn’t be this hard! Thanks again for your ...

Re: Shaping points enigma
AaroninNY thanks for starting this thread. I’ve just returned from a 2nd disastrous trip where I couldn’t follow the route I had so carefully planned. This time I “got around it” by viewing the map with the correct route on it and zooming and panning on the go which was both annoyi ...
