Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
yes i'm reasonably adept at route planning - in spite of appearances :D - all waypoints show up in the route as do shaping points. I've been using routes for years so am fairly familiar with how they work - I don't claim to be an expert. As I say, my problem isn't planning a route, it's getting my ...

Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
Yeah I see your point about waypoints! I have to say I have never had a problem on my 590 not tried the XT properly yet! But that's only if placed on a road if they are slightly off then it has been a problem I never had this issue with my 550/Mapsource either. The 395 is the first device I've used ...

Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
Yeah I get the idea behind a waypoint in a route. My problem with this 395 is it doesn't find them. They are not wildly off the selected route but The fact Basecamp only allows you to zoom in for an approximate placing seems to be a problem. Given that is the case you would think (well I do) that if ...

Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
Whether passing through or stopping makes no difference, a waypoint is useless unless the GPS picks it up. It's not doing that. I've ridden right over the indicated spot in the middle of a paddock and it still wont find it. Everything about your planned route fails at that point. Google maps leaves ...

Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
I'm assuming that maybe part of the problem however, I have been EXTREMELY careful to place them as accurately as possible on the right spots - as far as Basecamps accuracy will permit on my W10 laptop - What gripes me is if Waypoints are so bad for route navigation why the #$%&^@ dose Basecamp and ...

Re: XT Trip Planner
Thanks for the reply
I just need to know how XT handles route deviations as there is no point in downgrading from my current nightmare GPS - the evil 395- if XT has the same inherant cockups. I have set it up as you describe - it doesn't continue the route or find waypoints POS.

Re: Routing Waypoint Frustration
Will give it a try but the problem happens if you depart from the route then Trip planner will redirect you to the only waypoint on the mao (the last shaping point) via it's own route. Basecamp is supposed to work with waypoints!

XT Trip Planner
Can someone explain how trip planner on the XT deals wirth route calculations and deviations please. Does it recalculate to the next waypoint if you go off route? Meaning it will ignore the planned route and create its own route to the next way point and then carry on with the planned route? Or ...

Routing Waypoint Frustration
My 395lm wont find Waypoints on Routes. It will redirect you back to them if you go past one and ignore the planned route until you hit the waypoint...which is mostly physically impossible without a theodolite! It seems you have to be EXACTLY on target or you are toast! From what I've read in this ...
