Re: Music stops and getting unwanted U turns ZUMO XT
Thanks everyone! You've confirmed my suspicions. Now to execute.....Let's see if I have this right....Run a route through a second program... tilt my head to the left while gritting my teeth, making sure my back is to the sun....and push the the button's in the correct sequence....and pray for the ...

Re: Music stops and getting unwanted U turns ZUMO XT
Interesting Russ, thank you for the response. I've never had that issue until now, but to your point, the route was followed precisely with no issues until the last XT maps update. Now it drives me off the route at random times even if there is no point placed at the location where I was asked to ...

Music stops and getting unwanted U turns ZUMO XT
I've been using the ZUMO XT for a while. Quickly learned that the simpler the connections (don't include Andriod phone anymore)and shutting off all the nanny alerts, made the Zumo perform better with imported GPX routes. I have been using Mapsource to build routes and uploading to the ZUMO and it ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness
Hi Stu, I received a replacement connector from Garmin quickly and at no charge. That's nice but I really didn't see much in the way of design improvement. So I decided that I would add an automotive grade water proof connection at the other end. That way I can leave the Garmin mounted and move from ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness
Yes, I am new to this Garmin "thing". Allow me to explain. The XT was a replacement for my old Mark IV which came in my 2012 GTL 1600. That unit apparently was purpose built for BMW by Garmin. I decided to upgrade to get more options and faster response times. Building and transferring routes has ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness
Agreed Stu. However, being on the design side of developing new products, I know there is always a push and focus on making the user experience better. I'm sure that was Garmin's intention. However, it is inexcusable to fail so spectacularly with a new product for what is normally a simple interface ...

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness
A coax cable to the mount!!! Yeah, I wasn't expecting that...... OK I can overcome this challenge. But really - Garmin develops a great new product and then allows it's reputation to be ruined for the sake of a 10 cent connector interface that fails. I don't understand this kind of logic. Scheesh!

Re: WARNING - Garmin Zumo XT hot-shoe connector weakness
So I decided to register after seeing the post on the connector design failure. Why was I looking? Yup, mine failed too. Pin broke in the mount / connector after 4 trips on my motorcycle - BMW GL1600.... So the unit isn't seeing the abuse it could if it were mounted to my trail bike... I've worked ...
