I switched from fastest time to shortest distance on the XT, and the straight lines disappeared, but of course other parts of my "carefully planned" route (lol) also changed ! Mmmmm.
I will experiment further !!

The maps are both he same, I played with various settings / avoidances etc. etc. just to check that those in Basecamp are the same as on the XT and they seem to be
