Re: Installing OpenTopoMaps on Mac
Thanks for the input but I think I need to head a different path. I am not trying to use BC for route I want to make a printed map that covers the 6000 mile trip that my wife and I are in the midst of planning. All routes, lodging/camping, gas, etc. are in set in the routes. I have found some other ...

Installing OpenTopoMaps on Mac
I am trying to install Garmin OpenTopoMaps on my MacBook Pro. I just want to be able to use the Topo maps with basecamp, not on any device. How is this done? I can't find anything that describes or shows this process of installing on a Mac.
Anybody have thoughts on how to do this?

Re: Big trip want to test routes
I thought I posted this so if a similar post shows up somewhere, delete or ignore. It will be an epic trip. We are going to two rallies that are 10 days apart. We live in SE Arizona about 5 miles north of the boarder and heading to Oregon for the National BMW and Moto Guzzi Rallies. A lot of ...

Re: Big trip want to test routes
I learned many years ago not to cross routes and not to make loops with the same begin and end point. Everything I am doing for the big trip has no crossovers or same start and end. I have found that in Basecamp that it routes very strangely. it will take off a highway and on the residential roads ...

Big trip want to test routes
I am planning a trip with my wife for next summer. It will be 4 to 6 weeks and pushing 6000 miles. Like I said I am in the planning stages. I have a Zumo XT and the wife a 660LM. I currently have upwards of 20 routes that have been created in Basecamp. I normally load the GPX files to the iCloud and ...

Re: Connecting the Zumo to a Mac is still a royal pain
I have found with my ZUMO XT that I start AFT, plugin Zumo, start Basecamp and then go have a coffee and come back and it might be connected.I have not done this for a while since I only push files to the Zumo XT using Garmin Drive. I load my GPX files to the cloud and grab them from there.

Zumo XT & the Drive App
So as we all know the Zumo XT and Mac's don't play well together. So I have been uploading gps files to the Zumo XT using the Drive app and have had great success with no issues. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a new bike and had an 800 mile ride to get home. My wife wanted to stay in touch while ...

Re: I thought I was smarter than I am
Over the last 10 years or so I have always put a point prior to my turn and just after my turn. I also use point to really represent the route I want to take. Putting points before and after a turn also allow for the ability to reverse a route. I Also zoom as far in as I can to make sure points are ...

Re: Why do you use a dedicated sat-nav
I am a Sat Nav guy on the MC and a cellular guy in the car and RV. The car and RV typically will have an environment that is more suitable for cellular devices. They are dry, have a conditioned space and have power to the devices all the time. Additional when in the car or RV I have cellular ...
