Re: Does my Zumo XT have to be plugged in to plan routes?

Are you using Topo maps because you're riding off "normal" roads? City Navigator maps for "normal" roads can be downloaded to the PC and then used by Basecamp, which makes things quicker. But, you need to make sure that the XT's and PC's maps are the same version, otherwise you'l...

Re: Which GPS To Buy Now

I'm also considering a Zumo 595 for some upcoming travel. It sounds like it would still work great with my existing GPX files for route planning. Battery life is my main concern if I'll be using it for navigation each day in South Korea https://gowithguide.com/korea Do you think a 595 would be suff...

Re: Had unexpected fun with RUT today.

This week I have been following XT2 routes. I deviated twice - I don't know why - but it didn't miss a beat. I can't tell you how nice that was. But that isn't a recommendation - I wasn't trying to get it to go wrong, and the route was carefully planned. Never the less it was relaxing not having to...

If I remember correctly, then speed camera warnings will be announced (only once as you won't be above the limit) if you ride a simulated route, which might be easier, though less fun, than being out on the bike to test the results.

Re: Poll : Curious about the Zumo XT2 ? Read on....

Very new to using my XT2. I see the anacronym "RUT" used a couple of times in the above posts. Could you please tell me what RUT stands for? I'm thinking it might be "Request U-Turn". Short answer - Repeated U-Turn - Problem the XT has with imported routes with more than one way...

Re: Poll : Curious about the Zumo XT2 ? Read on....

I have a 396, 590 and 595 as well as the XT. Order of usage is 595, 590, 396 and lastly the XT. The 595 / 590 do routing that is how I'm used to on Garmins. The 396 and XT both have the "fastest" route type errors, but with the 396 not having to save routes so that they avoid the RUT. If t...

Re: "Faster Time" over 100 mph/

It sounds like you're running up against the "fastest" routing option on the XT where it lazily uses the fastest roads instead of a route which takes less time.. More knowledgeable people will probably ask to see a copy of the problematic route to see if they have the same problem as yours...

Re: Faster vs Fastest

I have a 'theory' about the XT's Faster Time Algorithm. This is just an idea. I haven't seen it fall over yet, but I haven't done much riding recently. if there is a faster road nearby which can be used to get you to the next route point, it will head for the faster road If the faster road is close...

Re: 396 recognises UK destination, then sends me to France!

Just done all that… factory reset, no extra maps, decent signal, also turned off history when prompted which apparently turns off some sort of predictive find function. Then i clicked > where to > trip planner > new trip > + add location (no start location) entered ‘leyburn’ as 2nd location (first ...

Re: 396 recognises UK destination, then sends me to France!

Tried it on my 396. Using the "Where to option" and using the "Search near" option search area at the top right of the screen. Have CN EU 2025.10 as the mapping and 3.60 software. When you see "Colburn" or "Hornby", I'll guess you select the address that shows...
