Re: Route points: Some non-alerting, some alerting

“especially a petrol station or viewpoint, and if there is, I make it into my own waypoint” but you would need to make sure this Waypoint is moved to the centre of the magenta route, if not already, would you not? I don't normally. Sometimes the points location can be seen to give some silly rou ...

Re: Route points: Some non-alerting, some alerting

I tend to use shaping points in between A and B then look to see if there's a known POI on that road, especially a petrol station or viewpoint, and if there is, I make it into my own waypoint, after checking that it does exist in Google Earth. I then delete the shaping point and check it's no longer ...

Re: Leave the Road

I'd try to look at the track the GPS says you were doing when the routing became a problem. The 590 etc rubber band themselves to where the road is displayed, so if the road isn't correctly placed then weirdness can occur. If you post the track, then someone with USA mapping might be able to see if ...

Re: Route transfer to XT - how many?

If I'm away for a couple of weeks and have a dozen plus routes then I'll only transfer them to a SD card in the GPSR and import them as necessary, ie a day plus next days. I'll delete ones that are no longer needed as well to keep it clearer. Using a logic of eg D1, D2, D3 for Day 1, 2 3 etc at the ...

Does it still prevent the XT2 from downloading maps to the computer?

Re: Tread is a mess. Is there a web application?

Is there a web application that simulates the Tread? It is tedious to use the application on the mobile because it is very bad and difficult to use I route plan using Basecamp and then transfer them to Tread and let it sync with the XT2. I only use way / via points and always monitor the route on ...

Re: DONT UPDATE GARMIN EXPRESS

i think it's because the XT2 uses the tread app for trip planning and not Basecamp, since Basecamp uses the maps on the computer You can use either the maps on the GPS or those on the computer. Most will use the computers as it's quicker. Personally, I think that it's Garmin being arsey about it ...

Dodgy Garmin e-mail warning

Someone on another forum I frequent has had an e-mail from "alerts at notifications.garmin.com" where the "at" should be a "@" and Googling it, it looks to have been around since at least 2023 :o
