The Via Point caption at the head of the route list, sadly, is another Garmin 'feature'. That heading is there no matter what type of point you create, so don't be misled by that. It ought to say something more generic at the head of that list - like 'Route Point' Yes mate, a more logical label ...

It helps if before you go out on a test - know where you are going to deviate. And find out where the tipping point is. Where it is faster to continue ahead than it is to go back. The Zumo has a flag that lets it know whether a route has been created and saved on the Zumo or whether it has been imported.
