Re: temporary setup
Could you do it? Yes Is it advisable? No The USB connection is not meant to handle vibrations, nor is it meant to charge the unit while in use. It is primarily a data transfer tool when connected to a computer. It is not a waterproof connection, so it subjects the unit to water intrusion if you get ...

Re: POI Icon on the XT
Not sure if this will work for POIs, but I had the same problem with waypoints that were embedded in a GPX file and imported into the XT as a part of a track import from Basecamp. They wouldn't display on the screen when the track was made visible. Also, when I would look up those waypoints to navig...

Re: Audio warning issue
When navigating a route, while listening to music (either MP3s loaded on the XT, or from an app on my iPhone), I do not get an audible beep. When Navigating a route, with no music playing, I get a beep when the speed limit is going to decrease. I am not sure what happens when no route is active and ...

Re: all favourites on map
I utilize my XT for both on-road and off-road navigation. Having waypoints visible on the screen is critical when riding off-road. I spent an hour and a half on the phone today with Garmin Tech Support trying to figure this out. When I send a GPX file to the XT, it contains a series of waypoints (of...

Re: How to toggle "Show on Map" for multiple tracks?
I have not been able to discover a way to do that either, and when imported, they default to off. I would prefer when new tracks are imported that they all default to on, and then I can turn off the ones I don't want.

Re: Charging while in mounting bracket?
I cut the black box (transformer)off mine and soldered on a USB plug to go to the USB port works fine That is because a standard USB port supplies 5V of power, not 12... Cutting off that black box on the XT power cord and wiring it directly to a 12V (i.e. battery tender or cigarette lighter) connec...

Re: Track Width - Easy to edit
I've just been playing around with the colour and track width mod. thinking that the it would effect my imported/saved tracks as mentioned by TripleThreat719 on 23 May 2020, 19:19 . The only tracks that change colour on my garmin are the ' where I've been' paper-trail tracks and not the imported tr...

Re: Can you hardwire audio on XT
XT is Bluetooth only... No option to hardwire anything to it except power. I would imagine that you could get a bluetooth receiver that you could hardwire to the Goldwing audio system and then pair the XT with that receiver. Here's one that plugs inline to the existing Goldwing Audio system for fair...

Re: XT off-route recalculation preferences
No Problem... I have a 660 also. This is my upgrade. I've been holding off because my only real complaint with the 660 was the shitty screen and it's a tad slow to respond when panning across the screen. I've had it for years... Got it right after they came out. Never upgraded to the 595 because I t...
