BBBike.org map extracts

Since the demise of openstreetmap.nl, I've been trying BBBike.org to get Garmin maps of more obscure areas, in this case, Morocco. https://extract.bbbike.org/ BBBike.org works brilliantly, except that I have the choice of Latin1 or UTF-8 character sets. I suspect I need UTF-8 (maybe as some Arabic ...

Re: Waypoint icons

Interesting points you raise. ........... I'll have a play, see what I can find out. It won't be immediately though ! I put together the attached PDF trying to explain the problems to Garmin UK (a guy called Thomas). I knew I was optimistic expecting a decent reply. Apart from recommending that I ...

Re: Waypoint icons

OK I've been playing around with various options: The reason I couldn't 'bulk edit' in Explore (in a browser) was that I was trying it on Unorganised items (where they appear with checkboxes to their left). For some reason bulk edit appears to only be possible within Collections, a slightly ...

Re: Waypoint icons

Just tried Explore for the first time. Not sure if I love it or hate it - probably the latter! :D The icons are certainly far more presentable. It looks to me like Garmin are trying to persuade you to use their cloud. The fact that it doesn't retain existing icons in the GPX is annoying. But what ...

Re: Waypoint icons

Thanks, and for maintaining this site! TBH I'm hesitant to start with Explore. Will it actually transfer/display icons correctly rather than hearts? It's possible that my terminology has confused the issue. By Waypoints, what I really mean is Favourites rather than points to be used in a route. I ...

Re: Waypoint icons

Unfortunately you have to go back in time to when BaseCamp was able to send icons to devices. Now you generally have to accept the green hearts. OK thanks, if not possible, I'll give up. But I do find it hard to see why they'd take this retrograde step! My other alternative is to create them as POI ...

Re: Waypoint icons

Thanks, But I'd prefer not to start using Explore.

I've just sorted the waypoints and put them into categories. But doesn't seem to help with icons, although it's nice to see them grouped within Favourites.

So the problem remains!

Waypoint icons

Why do all my waypoints shows as a heart when transferred to my XT? They (>1000) have all had icons assigned. I've tried transferring the GPX directly, MapSource, and BaseCamp (which I hate!). I'm sure the icons transferred on previous units, but maybe I remember the past through rose-tinted specs ...

Re: Saved track statistics

The data is all there in the GPX (which is only ever "You were at this point at this time" etc).

It's just that the Zumo XT interface doesn't show it. If we're hopeful, maybe they'll do it in a firmware update. But I won't hold my breath

Distance to next point has disappeared!

Used to be in the left of the top title bar. Any idea why this would be?

Yes, I'm navigating a route, and I've disabled other maps. And a full restart. I can get the info in the bottom-right customisable field, but would prefer that for ETA.

I'm trying to avoid a factory reset....
