Re: Which model to buy (second hand)
Truth be told, you should probably look at how you intend to mount the unit to your bike. At that point I'd look to see what models you can get mounts for. That will more than likely be the deciding factor over anything else. Some waterproof power mounts can be "unobtanium" for some models...

Re: Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices
The Garmin version I have is 2023.10 and they are abbreviated, my OSM I have is dated 2021 and they are not abbreviated.

Re: Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices
I had a feeling it would be coming sooner than later for my 550..... not surprised one bit. Will continue with OSM maps.

Hasn't Garmin also recently announced that they have stopped further software development for the XT?

Re: Transferring Routes from Base Camp to XT
It might just be a typo in your original message, but I think you find that the XT uses 'NTU' maps. I have 2 Garmin gps units & the old Montana uses 'NT' maps. Are you sure you are using the correct map on Basecamp prior to transferring the route? I'll just inject here, I have my XT in hand, ma...

Re: Zumo XT and Road Closures - options to disable
...........The user of such a unit MUST have the last word. There is always the "off" button........ But seriously, how would the XT know of any closures if it had no connection to the internet, ie the Drive app. I've ridden sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway the last couple of years, tha...

Re: Can coordinates be used to add a waypoint?
Little late to the party here, but I'll add that I have to use coordinates when routing on OSM maps. As some may know OSM maps don't have much of an address database for searching.

Re: Upate questions Z550 & Z595
The single file size limit of Fat32 is still 4GB. Garmin North American maps are still less than 4GB size, their European maps are split into multiple files as a single map would be over the 4GB limit. Unlike the newer XT that allows you to have multiple maps in the unit and allow you to select whic...

Re: Upate questions Z550 & Z595
Bill, in regards to the SD card, Garmin says 4Gb is the limit, however many here have used card larger. 8Gb and 16Gb are quite common and I personally use a 32Gb in mine. It will hold all my maps in their entirety as well as a large selection of Music(should I need it).

Re: Dusted off the 550.
Also note that with the newer maps, the street labeling changes, they aren't showing the entire street name anymore on the map. It will appear on the top ID bar, just not on the map. If you haven't already been a 'lifetime map' subscriber, can you even sign up now for new maps from Garmin? If Garmin...
