Help Please - XT Archive Folder Contents.

Post by jfheath »

Zumo XT Users Only please !

I read recently that the archive folder gets rid of old files.
No news there - but the comment also mentioned 'after about 6 months'. Which was news to me.

Previously (ie Zumo 590, 595) the archive folder contained files 1.gpx, 2.gpx etc up to 20.gpx.

After 20, when the Current TrackLog file became full, it would copy it to the archive, call it 21.gpx and delete 1.gpx
A new file for the Current Track Log would then be started.

I am trying to find out whether the 20 file limit is correct for the XT or the mention of 6 months is now more likely scenario.
I cannot confirm this myself now - my XT is new and hasn't even got one archive file stored yet. It will be a while before I get to 20.

So can anyone help please ?

If you have an archive folder with a load of gpx files in it, it may look like this:

12.gpx 13.gpx 14.gpx 15.gpx 16.gpx
17.gpx 18.gpx 19.gpx 20. gpx 21.gpx
22.gpx 23.gpx 24.gpx 25.gpx 26.gpx
27.gpx 28.gpx 30.gpx 31.gpx 32.gpx

If so can you let me know please (Post a reply to this)

1. How many files are there (eg 20)

2. The range of the files (eg 12.gpx - 32.gpx)

3. Whether any numbers are missing (eg 29.gpx is missing)

4. The oldest and the newest track log (eg 1 Sept 2022 - 3 January 2023

You can find the last two by connecting your XT to the Basecamp with the USB cable and selecting internal storage. The track logs will be listed in chronological order in the lower left pane.

Or

You can view the Track logs on the XT screen. Apps -> Tracks.
Click the calculator tab at the right hand side (viewed in landscape mode). The tracks will be listed in chronological order most recent first.
Scroll down to the bottom for earlier tracks.

Many thanks

@jfheath In looking at my XT I see a total of 11 unsaved tracks listed.
First track is dated September 16, 2022.
Last track is dated December 30, 2022.

When looking at the file structure using Android File Transfer, in the GPX>Archive folder I only see:
16.GPX
17.GPX
18.GPX
