Problem Installing Maps to PC

I have updated my XT to the latest mapping but when I try to also install the mapping to my PC the install fails.
Any ideas on how to solve this would be appreciated

The first thing that I can think of. Did you have Basecamp and or Mapsource running while installing? Basecamp/Mapsource should not be active.

How does it fail? Any error messages?

I get a red band across the top of Garmin Express with "There was an error installing the update"

Thanks, I will be away for the next few days but will take a look at this when I get back.

I finally got around to try and sort out why this was happening!
It seems the problem was caused by the XT being connected to my phone, I disabled the Bluetooth and then was able to install the maps to my PC.

I'm not suggesting that what you say isn't correct, but my phone is always connected to my XT when it is turned on. I've never had problems installing maps to the Zumo or to the PC. .......

..... except .....

When I ask Express to do all of the updates, or a number of updates at the same time. That nearly always results in one or more failure.
I always update just one thing at once. I never have wi-fi set up on the XT

I'll keep an eye on that next time I use Express - make sure phone and XT are actually connected, see if I can replicate it.

TBH the XT is so flaky when it comes to connecting to the PC. I have had this issue and I used the time honoured and scientific rule of do the same thing over and over until it works.
