Now why am I not surprised, things don't do in Garmin software, what they say and should :D

Thanks anyhow, I will test the Basecamp-method, though I try to avoid Basecamp. (It lacks the detail for offroad riding apparently. At least as far as I have seen.)

Also it"s enough to sturggle with explore web and the device itself. As you saw in my entry post, already a simple task like importing GPX-Tracks in a proper way took me some days. If every step needs as much attention and methodical research as the GPX-import stuff, that's gonna burn a lot of time.

So far I just ride to a Tack, arrive at the end, then let myself navigate to the next Track. Interestingly Tracks converted to Routes on the XT device do not navigate me turn by turn at all. That's fine by me, but I red somewhere, they would?

Asafar as I can see the results of my own testing on the GPX-import topic the Garmin way of programming (and wording/naming) is as inconsequent and inpredictible as you can get with still something that somehow works :o

The big question is just as always... how (properly)? There are many ways, but each of them has different outcomes :lol:

My apologies. When I first started to answer the question I was talking about tracks. Somewhere along the line the conversation started talking about routes, and I didn't notice (even though I said 'routes' later !!). I've never actually joined a route before - except by copying and pasting the route points intot he dialogue box.

The behaviour between tracks and routes is different.

Routes have no date and time stamp - so you get the option to select which order the tracks are joined. You move them around in the dialog box.
But saying Yes or No seems to make no difference as to whether or not the originals are deleted - they all remain intact.

If they are tracks with no date/time info, then you have to select the order in which the tracks are joined - just as with routes.
Tracks will be joined automatically if they are a tracklogs with date and time stamps.
Selecting Yes to delete the originals does indeed delete the originals with tracks.

This is working purely with tracks and routes on Basecamp with no Zumo connected.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
