Re: What XT case to get
I measured the unit and bought a generic one from Amazon. I don't think I used it a single time last year, and maybe not the year before. It just rides around in my top case when traveling. Turns out for me it was a waste of money.

so when travelling and stopping, do you remove the XT and place it somewhere?

Re: What XT case to get
I never used a case for my 590 or for the first couple years with my XT. A Zumo is pretty rugged on its own, and I kept it in a pocket or pannier when not mounted. A separate case just seems like one more item to deal with and store.
When I bought a 3D printer last year, I printed a "bumper" case out of a soft plastic (95A TPU) that provides some drop protection without being bulky. It also has a hole for a lanyard, which comes in handy when my hands are full, just hang it from a wrist. I also slip the loop over the Ram mount in case the mount releases unexpectedly. I printed this just for fun, to use the printer, but the cushioning also makes it easier to grip. A Google search for "Zumo XT bumper case" will find a few people selling these for about $20-25 USD.

Re: What XT case to get
I used to. The travel pack on my rear seat has external pockets and I'd just drop it in there. I've since installed a Motopumps lock so now I just put the unit to sleep when I stop and turn it back on later. It stays in the mount all day, I remove it at night.twowheelstom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:42 pm so when travelling and stopping, do you remove the XT and place it somewhere?

Yes. Always. I usually have to open the top box anyway, so gloves, satnav, riding glasses all go in there while I am gone. If panniers are empty, helmet goes into one of those.twowheelstom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 23, 2024 2:42 pm so when travelling and stopping, do you remove the XT and place it somewhere?
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

I have this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002II ... UTF8&psc=1 but I never use it. It's a perfect fit. It just sits on my computer desk.

Looks identical to mine. I use it for postage stamps, usb thumb drive, SD cards for the XT, earbud tips, etc. when traveling so I can find the small things easily.VFRcanada wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 3:40 pm I have this https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002II ... Re: What XT case to get
I found an old cassette tape case that ended up being the perfect size to hold the XT and it cable. That case does not travel with me though. When I stop, I place the XT into either a locked fairing pocket, my locked trunk along my helmet and gloves, or my jacket pocket.
