Can't find XT map files on PC File Explorer

On my XT I have North America 2024.2 Maps, so when connecting XT to my PC computer, I can't see where the XT map files are located, either on XT Internal memory or Memory Card, they don't show up on PC File Explorer. How come? are these XT map files hidden? can I get file explorer to show them?

When you connected your XT to the computer, did the XT prompt you with the option to "cancel" entry into FTP(file transfer protocol) mode? or did it boot up normally?

If you didn't get the prompt, you might have a bad cable or faulty usb port.
The XT has to be in the file transfer mode to be seen by the computer and Basecamp, GE, etc...
Once there, the '.img' map files are locate in the '.system/maps' folder on the XT internal memory, or for the optional data card they are in the 'maps' folder.
The '.system' folder may be hidden on the internal drive.

By default, the .System folder is hidden by the XT. You do not need to configure Windows File Explorer to show hidden files and folders, or system files, to see the XT .System folder.

To make .System visible, turn on the XT without the USB cord, view the map screen, tap the speed indicator to go to the dashboard. Press and hold the speedometer until you reach the Diagnostics Page. Under MTP settings, check the box for "Show .System". Plug in the USB cord, press Continue when prompted.

The map filenames do not match the map name. For instance, the 2025.20 Canada & Mexico City Navigator map is D9644080A.img. The filenames can be found in Basecamp:

The U.S. file is over twice the size of the Canada & Mexico file.

Be cautious in the .System folder, there is a reason it is hidden, and there are things in there that you may not be able to replace. Working in .System/Maps should be fairly safe. I think anything in there can be replaced by updating/reinstalling maps with Express.

Thanks for this, I didn't know about that Diagnostics Page in Dashboard, found it following your instructions and then enabled Show System folder on the XT.
I will definitely be extremely cautious in the .System folder

I got the XT into File Transfer Mode, I can see the .System folder now in Internal Memory on the XT after following Ikraus's instructions above for Diagnostics Page.
There's 10 files in that .System Map folder
8 .img files and 2 .gma files
