Hi,
I recently got a BMW nagivator VI and still getting to know the device. This weekend I made my first trip and after some waypoints the routing to the next waypoint did not work anymore. It just drew a straight line but no longer navigating. I then had to stop and start the trip again from the correct waypoint to fix the situation. At some point I had to do this for each waypoint.
I'm not really sure what is going wrong here. I exported a GPX track from google maps, imported it in basecamp and made sure there are not too many waypoints in there. I have attached the GPX file. Maybe someone recognizes this and can give me some hints?

1st thing I would suggest is verify you are using a valid 'activity profile' within Basecamp for your route, other than none or 'direct'.
Re: BMW navitagor 6 problems with straight lines between waypoints
thanks for getting back to me, I looked at the route options but motorcycling was selected which should be ok?
These is the activity profile that was selected:

Not go Basecamp handy, so can't look at the gpx file, so here's some thoughts on trying to narrow down what the problem, that is. is the route a bad one, or is the Nav 6 not working correctly.
1) Did you try using the "Where to" function on the Nav 6 to see if it created a route that followed the roads?
2) Awful lot of avoidances etc in your motorcycling profile. I'd suggest trying it with almost none, and in fastest mode, something like "driving" and then sending it to your Nav 6 to see if it's happier.
3) Have you tried the route in simulator mode, ie in the settings, turning off the satellite reception, both with the problematic route, and then after any changes.
4) Might be worthwhile trying the route in your Nav 6 and when you open up the route to set off, just select the finish point, and see if the Nav 6 routes to it ok

I downloaded the route, here's what BaseCamp shows for me
Zooming in I see normal up and back roads in the bottom left. Your profile is Motorcycle-Curvy Roads, my BaseCamp didn't like that. I never use the curvy road choice, I found it too glitchy.

So I had some try-out of point 1, this did work well. The other point 3 I could not find. Will try out point 2 now. Did manage to reproduce the issue as you can see here:Oop North John wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 12:37 pm Not go Basecamp handy, so can't look at the gpx file, so here's some thoughts on trying to narrow down what the problem, that is. is the route a bad one, or is the Nav 6 not working correctly.

So it is routing to the first waypoint but then the subsequent waypoint just shows a straigth line.
Edit: Also tried using the "driving" mode, same story. It only routes until the upcoming waypoint but no further.

Simulator mode = the sat nav is not receiving the GPS data and is found by:
Settings > Navigation > GPS Simulator
Allows you to follow a route without going outside.

Re: BMW navitagor 6 problems with straight lines between waypoints
I wonder if the Nav 6 doesn't like it either so the route points with an Activity Profile of "curvy roads" are being treated like direct points instead.
If, when starting the route, the first route point is selected as the entry point then navigation to that point works but not because it it following the route but because it has created its own navigation to that route point. You might try selecting the second route point as the entry point and then seeing what it does, specifically whether it routes you to that point and then straight lines to the rest.

Hi everyone,
been a bit busy last few weeks so did not have the time to further look into this issue.
Something came to mind, would it be possible that one of you posts a file that I can upload on the navigator and try in simulation mode? It would have to be in Europe though.
I would be very thankful!

Re: BMW navitagor 6 problems with straight lines between waypoints
I don't have any European routes but it might be more helpful if you could upload the original track from Google. Tell us the places in sequence you actually want to stop. We could create a route that works and discover why your earlier attempt did not.
I also recommend that you spend some time with jfheath's document about the Zumo 590/595. The Navigator handles routes in the same way as these models and I think it will help you understand how Basecamp and your Navigator work.
