I have done a route directly on the XT using the Shape Routes function and it comes out at 177 miles.
I've then done the same route on Basecamp and it also comes out at 177 miles.
However, when I then sent the Basecamp route to the XT and open it now records 189 miles?
I've gone over both routes meticulously and they are exactly the same, so why when I send the same route does it suddenly gain 12 miles?
Route distance difference
Re: Route distance difference
Yep. Both the Basecamp and XT are set to 2021.10. Though I do notice that the XT has 7 maps ticked in the my Maps installed section.
Re: Route distance difference
Has anybody got any suggestions as to why I have this discrepancy why I have this increase in the route mileage when sending it my XT?

Re: Route distance difference
I do know that the algorithms used for speed, which alters the time to the destination are different between Basecamp and my XT, like every other Garmin Sat Nav I've recently owned. I see this if I go slightly off route forcing a recalculation and the time to the destination changes. But, downloading from Basecamp to the XT I can't remember seeing this happen.

Re: Route distance difference
i see this myself too, not sure why.
i always have the track displayed, under the trip, and just let it go,
what gets me, is turns, it may say its 1.5 miles ahead left, but the turn is much closer per the track, it shows the same road name and everything, if i didn't glance at the displayed track, under the guidance, it would have missed the turn.
one of these days i'lll go see where and what it wants me to do. lol same maps, on basecamp and xt

Times can be changed in BaseCamp for various road types. Devices learn your driving style over time. I've got mine pretty much adjusted now so timings are relatively accurate.
