Am I missing something here!
I have had a couple of updates recently on the XT which have shown on the unit under updates
But when I click them to update I get a message to connect it to a charger!
What is the point of the WiFi if I need to connect it to a charger anyway! I may as well just connect it to my computer and update the unit!
I suppose the only real use is for those people who don't own a computer

Re: Updates
The reason they have you connect to power is that if the device loses power (battery dies) while in the middle of an update, you can brick your unit and it will no longer work at all.

Re: Updates
Yes I know that but the battery life is pretty good and also mobile phones have the ability to not allow an update on a low ish battery so why can't garmin?TripleThreat719 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 10:05 pm The reason they have you connect to power is that if the device loses power (battery dies) while in the middle of an update, you can brick your unit and it will no longer work at all.

Bwaaahahahaha! That's a good one! Stu, you know as well as anyone that Garmin is not well known for its user friendly end product and option choices for real world uses by real people.
