Map Source doesn't are Zumo XT
Map Source doesn't are Zumo XT
Hello everyone, I ask for help because my Zumo XT, connected via USB to the PC, is perfectly visible in the peripheral list of the Computer, perfectly detected and connected with Garmin Express and Base Camp, but not detected by Map Source, which I am discovering as valid alternative to BC. If, on the other hand, I connect a card reader with the Zumo micro SD to the same USB port, then it recognizes the storage device and transfers the files to the right Garmin / GPX folder. Thanks to anyone who can help me.
Re: Map Source doesn't are Zumo XT
MapSource will only detect mass storage devices, whereas your device is by default in mtp mode. That's why your card is seen but not your device.
Set your device to mass storage mode and it'll then work with MapSource.

First of all thanks for the quick reply, but I still ask you how I can go about configuring the device as a mass storage. Is it enough to say cancel to the question asked when connecting the USB cable? Hello and thanks

The Garmin XT sadly doesn't have mass storage mode (only MTP and something called USB ethernet, which I'm yet to find out what it is)

Mapsource is still an option, but you will need to save your data from Mapsource to the desktop as a .gpx file and then use explorer to copy it to the XT into folder:
This PC\zūmo XT\Internal Storage\GPX
From this folder you can als retrieve your current.gpx, copy it to the desktop and drag this copy into Mapsource. (although the XT creates a corrupt current.gpx if you use firmware 5.90 or 6.10 which in unusable)

Re: Map Source doesn't are Zumo XT
MapSource is no longer supported by Garmin. BaseCamp is designed to connect with your Zumo XT. Why are messing with MapSource to send routes to the XT? I get it that MapSource was much easier to use as far as file management. BaseCamp database has a learning curve, but it works well. I have a Zumo 450 and 550 that still use MS, but also use BC to work with my Zump 590 and a Nuvi in my car.

Re: Map Source doesn't are Zumo XT
I use nothing but Mapsource as I find Basecamp as user friendly as a rattlesnake and I have a Zumo 550 so no problem. I can transfer routes and waypoints from Mapsource to my other garmin devices by first sending the routes and waypoints to an SD card. Then with the receiving garmin device turned off completely I put the SD card in and turn on the device. It comes up with "New Data Found" and gives me the opportunity to import the new data (Routes and Waypoints). I'm then be able to find the routes in Trip Planner and the Waypoints in Favourites. Works for me unless I've completely misunderstood the question.
