there was an instructional thread on how to spread the contacts on the plug for the battery I'll see if I can find it and post here

Have you used the USB port from the 595 cable to charge anything? I can't get mine to work that way. With the gps in the cradle, when I plug my Android in it connects to the gps as a media device but it doesn't charge.
I've charged up my Samsung android phones with the 595's USB lead. It only gives out 1/2 an amp, and the GPS has to be on for it to be powered. Occasionally the charging lead hasn't worked.

i can't find the instruction sheet on how to do it but I'm sure someone here must have it. It shows that the u shape copper does not go out enough to make a good contact on the battery connector. It only effects the charging with the usb and not the charging on the mount
