Once a route is imported it should create a .trip file in Internal storage\.System\Trips. Is that file being created?
Okay, having enabled the system directory (as above), I can see there are 4 files in \trips...

I suppose the time stamps on these files show the failed attempts.
Having captured the screen shot, I disconnected the XT, re-booted it and then attempted to create the route one more time. Sure enough, there's now five trip files, but still nothing in the Trip Planner.

The XT appears to be completing the import process. I'm at a loss to explain why the routes aren't appearing in Trip Planner. I hope someone comes along who has a clue.

Very interesting, and puzzling. The Mac version of BC does not use the term "points," but I'm wondering if instead it is "Directions." If yes, this is a decent measure of complexity. Here is my previously-mentioned 240-mile route's info:

My next guess is about the trips files in your system folder. Did they survive the reset? If yes, try deleting them. Does your route by any chance have a very long name? If yes, those existing files may cause trouble when the XT tries to add the next upload attempt and append a "1" or higher number to the end of it.
Wild guesses, but just in case they help.

Appreciate your wild guesses.
I think you are probably right, the "points" is probably the number of detailed "directions". At the level of detail shown, I'd guess there are around 120 detailed directions in my route...

As far as I know, that is not something I can control, and is probably a function of the complex old road system we enjoy here in UK.
To test the "trips" theory, I deleted them from the system folder, rebooted and tried to import the route once more. Same result. All looked good...

As for the filename, it was only 7 characters.
Stumped.

Do you mean route name? That is what is displayed in Trip Planner.
Is the route a loop route that uses the same roads for any of the outgoing and return sections? If so, are any waypoints used repeatedly, once for each direction?

A few things
1. The number of points reported in the Basecamp route is weird. The count of Via Points appears to be the number of route points - via and shaping including start and finish. This software was developed after Mapsource, and seems to have retained some of its features. Mapsource only dealt with Via Points - as they were then. The heading in the route list is also stated as 'Via Points'.
2. The number of points - I haven't got a clue. I know that if you recalculate the route - the first time - it changes value.
3. Your route. I am not sure what is going on, but I can find out. First an answer to a question.
If you send data via the Drive App, the file is stored as a separate GPX file on the Internal Storage / GPX folder. But the XT recognises that it has received a file and it will import it. It should then appear in the trip planner app. If it doesn't it is likely that the importing process that has been aborted. The import process sifts through the contents of the gpx file and finds the routes to import, the Waypoints to store in Favourites, the tracks to put into the track app. In looking at the routes, it also sifts for any Waypoints that have been used and not declared separately, and puts them into favourites . I am guessing that it finds any named route points (vias and shaping), looks at the coordinates and uses its internal database of stored locations and retrieves a name from there - over-writing the name that you gave to the point. It keeps the names of the points that have been identified as 'Waypoints', storing them in Favourites. (If it doesn't do that exactly, then it does something similar with the same end result.).
When the XT says 'Calculating', for the first few seconds, that it what it is doing. If it takes more like 25-60 seconds, then it is calculating the route. The question that you then have to ask is "Why ?" It shouldn't need to. Possible answers include the map on Basecamp being different from the map on the Zumo, and the Edit->Options->Device Transfer settings in Basecamp are not set appropriately for your Zumo. Untick all options and apply to all devices.
If it fails for some reason in any of the above processes, the route is not made available to Trip Planner - so you have to find out where the fault is in the route.
If you PM me a copy of the gpx file that contains the offending route, a copy of your temp. gpx and current.gpx, then I can look through and let you know what I think has happened. I'll see if I can reporduce the error - if I have the same maps - just checked - yes I do, you're in the UK. Those two files I would need immediately after you have transferred the route from Basecamp. If you transfer more routes having disconnected the USB cable in the meantime, temp.gpx will have been over-written
In case you thin there is anything sensitive in there:
temp.gpx contains all of the files that have been transferred to the Zumo - ready for import.
Current.gpx contains all of the routes, waypoints, tracks (maybe) that are ready to be loaded.
Neither of these files tell me where you have been, when and how fast you were going. That information is in CurrrentTrackLog.gpx and in the Archive folder. I don't want any of these files !!
Either of these could contain the location of your home. This is a publically available forum - which is why I suggest sending it in a private message.
(Assuming that you would trust me with it).
One other question - do you have Explore enabled ? How to find out. Main Screen -> Where to -> Explore. If you get a lits of tracks, routes etc with an ornage banner, then Yes - Explore is enabled. If you get a screen inviting you to "Connect now". No - you don't have it enabled. Do not select 'Connect Now' !!

Yes, it's a loop, and yes it uses some of the same roads and waypoints. That's something I do in plenty of the routes I make. Is it a potential source of the problem?

Thank you. I have done some other testing since the failed upload so I will clean up my Zumo and send you the files by PM as soon as I can.

I don't know, but it is a similarity with the other post I found needing help with the same problem. You will be in good hands with
@jfheath so I'll leave you guys to it.

Your question intrigued me. I took a look in Explore (on the Zumo) and there are only two routes in there. Strangely enough, those are the two routes that I've had upload failures with over the past year or so. When I look at the most route that is the subject of this thread (157 miles long), it shows as only 7.4 miles long in Explore....
Correlation or causation?
