I connected my Phone (android),The XT, and Edge
as directed in the Packtalk Edge on You Tube and have had not problems :?: :?:
No confusion here. What I described works perfectly well - I prefer to have the XT at the centre of things. The Edge wants to be at the centre. Both methods require compromises to be made. It depends what you want.

This is a Zumo User forum, so generally the emphasis would be in getting the best from the Zumo.

I'm curious though - in your set up with the edge as the hub does the Zumo still display incoming phone call information on the screen, or incoming text / email messages ? I've never tried.

I cannot get the Zumo to work that way (putting the Cardo Edge at the centre). When I call my mobile, it comes through the headset and the XT does not alert me that a call is soming in -(which is OK - 'cos I can hear it in the headphones). But there is no alert on the XT screen to tell me who it is, or to cancel it. The XT is cut out of the sequence - which is why I put the Zumo as the hub.

I suspect that if you are receiving phone call alerts on your Zumo screen, you must have a second phone connection to the zumo - which you need if you are using the Drive App (or the Tread app - XT2).

I sometimes set up the phone to link to the headset - that connects as the first phone (my XT is the second phone). I might do that to change system settings - but I only need to do that rarely. There must have been a reason for me deciding to disconnect the first phone every time after using Cardo Connect. I'll check my notes.
