Not sure on the 396, but definitely don't take the 590 - it has even worse Bluetooth reliability. I was sent the 595 to replace my 590 because of Bluetooth issues about a year ago.
Thanks, I've a feeling that my options are akin to out of the frying pan into the fire!
Had a 590 before, it came with the bike, so when I sold the bike I bought a 595 as it was a similar unit. Got a nice collection of 590 / 595 mounts and batteries now which sways me towards the 590, but it's no longer sold, but has a bigger screen, decisions, decisions
Decided to go with what I know, so my 595 will be getting swapped for a 590
