It's a mystery. None of that appears in .24 or .23 versions. What I get with both versions is the below:

Well, thought I could add an image, but guess not. Regardless, I don't see anything like you posted.

I notice that yours shows the 550 is Connected. Mine is Not Connected.

Disconnect the 550 and try again.

Hi gbyoung2,
on your picture image there, zumo 550 connected,
I see that it shows (Info folder),
and on my Express Info folder comes when clicking the Tools & Contents box
the options for map dowload files is not under that box.

on my Express, the option for download map files is under Estimated Install time, you will see View Details
click on View Details, which is right under Estimated Install Time
when clicking on View Details, it shows another page, 1 Update Available page
on that page, click on Installation Options
under Installation Options is where you Select where you would like to install the files.

I installed a new formatted 8 gig card and was hoping to load the necessary files using Garmin Express, but it tells me that the device doesn’t have the necessary internal storage

If someone could provide me with a workaround, it’d be most appreciated. I may need the same procedure for my own original 550
I have a 550 also and have updated it with "too big" maps several times.
Load the maps with Express using the computer only option. Connect the 550 to the computer and run the computer only option again. This will only take a minute or two and it will load the map unlock data file onto the 550.
Use Mapinstall to select the map segments that you want to load, and install them to the SD card. The SD card must have been formatted to FAT32.
The connection from your computer to the Garmin Z 550 is horribly slow. It will take hours to install the map segments if you are selecting large volumes of data. There is a workaround for this. You have to copy certain files to the SD card so that the software thinks it is talking to a Zumo 550. Your computer has to have an SD card port for this to work. Remove the card from the Garmin and connect it directly to the computer. Now, Mapinstall should run in 30-40 minutes for the entire USA-Canada maps instead of hours and hours. There are files that have to be copied and files that have to be deleted. If you want the step by step, say so, and I will copy it over to here.
It's been a long day, but with ya'lls help I've finally muddled my way to the point that I'm ready to install the necessary files on to an SD card for a speedy upload. What files do I need to put on the SD card, and which ones do I need to omit/delete? I think we're finally getting there.
Many thanks.

You must have some kind of SD card reader on your PC for this to work.

** This is MUCH FASTER than installing maps to the SD card in the GPS **
With the SD card STILL in the Zumo GPS
Copy file GarminDevice.xml to the Garmin folder on the SD card. Don't copy before this step.
Remove any maps from the SD card. gmapsupp.img .sum
Remove the GPS from the computer.
Remove the SD card from the GPS, insert the SD card into the
card reader slot on the PC.

With the GarminDevice.xml file on the SD card, the MapInstall program will think that the SD card is a Zumo 550.
Run Mapinstall and copy the map segments to the 550/SD card.
When done, delete .xml file, return the SD card to the GPS.

Well, I guess it is possible to teach an old Guy (81) new tricks. After I slowed down and figured out what ya'll were telling me and finding the location the files I was being told to manipulate/copy/move, it seems as though I now have a working machine.

I only copied enough map segments around where I live so I could see if it was going to work, and it did. I'll go back go through the process again and load the full compliment. I don't like the address entry format on this machine (kind of cumbersome for my wife), so I may just give her my original 550 and take over this one.

Once again, many thanks to all who contributed to this little party. It's been a fun, learning experience.

Well, the "files too large" issue seems to have been resolved; the device is now semi-functional. When calculating a route, if it has to go any distance, it goes to a certain %, usually just above 25, then hangs up. a note eventually pops up say that there's not enough memory to complete the route.

The SD card I'm using is an 8 GB, but this sounds more like an internal memory problem. Or is it?

At one point when perusing stuff on the 550, it appeared like he had a SL of favorites on there - but - if you went to the Favorites when trying to find a destination, there was nothing listed - BUT - the Food/Lodging section is loaded with places in my area. A couple of the places I saw previously were destinations from out of his (his) state.

according to this Garmin Support site, this is the maximum memory card capacity for the 550
