"Not I", said jfheath. Not yet anyway. I've got my hopes pinned on Little Red Hen.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

The display of waypoints seems to be problematic. In one area I have a few and zooming in or out changes which ones I see. Which can be rather confusing and irritating.

Only managed to get it to do one route of about 15 miles, even 30 miles as a crow flies caused me to give up after 30 seconds. How "wonderful"

I haven't done a detailed test yet, but I still think it looks slightly better.
Not really perfect, but better.

My main problem is still that my planned shaping points are moved in the way Garmin probably wants for its route planning.

On a positive note, I have noticed that the shaping point shifts in my test scenarios no longer seem quite so extreme.

Then I noticed that one of my test routes still worked even after the Tread app manipulated it. So at least I am able to transfer routes to the XT2 wirelessly.
If I then import the route into the Tread app and it is calculated there, I assume that it opens much faster in the XTR2 and doesn't have to be recalculated for so long.

The safest way is still to copy routes to the SD card and not install the Tread app or deactivate the Tread app. But this way the import and calculation takes what feels like an eternity and connecting the XT2 to the PC for copying takes even longer.

Then the Tread app once crashed so badly that I couldn't restart it at all. I had to delete the tread app completely and reinstall it or delete its data completely and set it up again. (Note: I use Android)

I don't otherwise use Bluetooth, so I can't comment on other connection problems.

PS
I don't know if the noticed at least small positive changes were caused by the tread update or by newer maps

Ok - I'm just putting back my default settings.

Loaded the Tread App. V 2.09.63.

They seem to have nobbled the workaround solution.

Has anyone found out how to install Tread without Enabling Storage - like you could before.

Reason being - I want traffic, weather etc. I don't want it to synch.

Now if you say Maybe Later - it seems not to link anything.

And today no detailed maps, only the basemap when I have "driving" selected. And, using either the driving or basemap means no ability for it to calculate a route.

Trying to submit feedback, but that's got the spinning wheel of doom!

With the latest versions of Tread App, I only find the way of master reset XT2 and after that install the app and start from 0. No way of turnning off the syncing in the XT2.

Yes that's what I have been doing. Reset database, delete app and re-install. It used to allow you to choose what to install after saying maybe later. Now it doesn't give any options until you have approved saving data.

I'll check whether or not my previous faults have been fixed and then get onto them.

Update Summary of Garmin 'Improvements'

This post has been edited - because some of the information was wrong. To avoid setting up Tread Synch - you have to perform a master reset of the XT2 - so it is still possible to have Tread running for Fuel, weather, traffic, road works data without the synch process from messing up your route.

This post was originally an outburst from me becasue I thought that it was no longer possible. It is. @Peobody reminded me of what was required - something that I knew but had forgotten. He quoted my original post, which I have asked him to leave intact. A reminder to us all not to believe everything that we read on web pages.

  • In the Tread Route Planner App, it is still not possible to insert shaping points - except in strict sequence of travel
  • It is no longer possible to reorder shaping points in the Tread app. Even when it was possible, it was difficult because all are called 'Shaping Point'
  • Changing a Via Point to a shaping point in the Tread App still often results in the route and the via point being moved to a faster road. I don't know what the purpose of a shaping point is.
  • Allowing any gpx route to synchronise via Tread App often results in relocation of route and shaping points. This includes gpx routes exported by the Tread app - so it is not a Basecamp issue.
  • Current Tread Driving Map is so cluttered with detail and shading, it is now extremely difficult to see town names road names and roads. They do not scale up when you zoom in, but more 'clutter' is added.
  • Tread app still does not allow creation of Tracks eg from a route.
  • Basecamp maps can no longer be put onto the computer. Unless you have an older Zumo to plug in.

If you create a route with the Tread App, it transfers and works perfectly.
So I would really expect the Tread App to be usable. The sort of tool that exceeds the capabilities of BC. But it doesn't. It falls a long way short. The tools most frequently used by me in BC are 'insert' and 'change via to/from shaping'.

I see lots of positive posts about the XT2. How are people using them ? I'm desperately trying to make it work and It's very difficult.

But .... thinking positively
I can choose not to install Tread and have weather, traffic, fuel data, route transfer via email.
I can still prepare routes and send via gpx file and Usb cable
I can prevent Rut behaviour by making a copy of the route from the XT2 screen
And it does have a nice, bright, large screen
Oh and a handlebar controller .

Anyway, today I'm not doing any of that. Wheels are off the bike, today they are having new rubber fitted.
I was hoping to get new T33s but they are still not available.
