Just checked it only has 'Global Map' without my device being attached. I'll try it with it attached later.

Right maps appear when the XT is connected. So that’s not a problem but it still refuses to follow my routes! Despite putting loads of waypoints in MRA for a trip down south today and checking the route is correct on the XT it calculated correctly at first but after a minute it decided to recalculate it sending me on a completely different route adding 90 minutes on too. The return route also was correct for about a minute then the XT told me that route avoidances had been changed, they hadn’t, and promptly changed it. So I have no idea what it’s doing and Basecamp is a complete mystery to me as it calculated the route completely differently to where I had placed waypoints. Any ideas?

Send the GPX file of the route from Basecamp. Either post on here or attach to a private message.
Also - which maps are you using on your XT
Which maps on Basecamp
What avoidances are set on the XT
How is Traffic set ?

Thanks to jfheath it looks like the reason for this has been found! When exporting/saving from MRA gpx1.1 is the format to be used and not 1.2. Plus a lot of shaping or waypoints. Thanks jfheath!

Glad you're sorted. I'll summarise what we found out and post it.
Enough shaping points to keep the XT from heading for fastest roads is what we should aim for, rather than a lot. But until I can find out how to judge what is 'enough', then 'a lot' is probably to be preferred. Or superimpose the track so that you can ignore the instructions - see how long it takes to correct itself.
(Superimpose is the worng word, becasue the track gets put under the route. I don't know what the word is for displaying underneath something else. Underlay, perhaps ? )

I have a XT and a BMW navigator 6 both update to latest maps.
I have made a tour in Basecamp and exported to both the XT and the Nav 6.
Been out for a test ride with both navs on the bike.
The XT dos not follow the rute 100% cuts corners and goes for the bigger roads.
The Nav 6 just follows the route i made 100%
Both navs are 100% on same settings

Yes - the XT and XT2 have very different routing algorithms compared to the Nav V / Vi and the Zumo 590/595.
They prefer to head for the faster roads - and the XT2 in particular will go a long way out of its way to use what it considers to be faster roads.
So you have to pre-empt that when placing your shaping points.
eg on a road that you want to ride which is near to a motorway - you might need to use two shaping points 1/3 of the way along and 2/3
That way to use the motorway it would have to do the stretch of the motorway and 2/3 of the side road to visit all of the points.
(Of course, the XT2 gets round this little trick of the Tread app is allowed to synchronise or if the Tread App is used to plan the routes - it just shifts the route and the shaping points onto the motorway !)
With the XTs the best solution for me is to disable synchronisation, and use @FrankB's TripManager to upload the routes. The points keep their same names and the route keeps the position of the points. It by passes the transfer and import process which is when most of the modifications to the route are made by Garmin's programmers.

And it will not be better, not to use Garmin Basecamp for tour making?
Maybe at better program for that?

When using TripManager, it is best to create Gpx files with BaseCamp. Second option is Mra, and export as V1.1. Others planners may work well, but have not been tested.
