Can you duplicate that behavior anywhere else?

I just tried to duplicate it by creating routes around shopping centers at "V" intersections. I expected that these would be the perfect place for "shortest" to route through the parking lot or through the alley behind the shops where the loading docks are but in both places it kept me on the main roads. This with CN NA NT 2024.1.

I then duplicated your problem route section but could not get Basecamp to route on the alley. Below is a screenshot with using "shorter". Also tried "faster" and "curvy" with no change. Even tried setting departure time so that this section would be run at 5:00 PM with no change.

I kept trying and couldn't get it to happen. Then I placed the shaping point right after the exit from the shopping center - at 5 Cloniger if you want to look at it again. I can look for it at another location...

Very odd!!! I can duplicate it by placing a shaping point in the same place but move it just a touch-down route and the path through the shopping center goes away. I am glad that I could confirm the behavior but I don't have an explanation. It does not make any sense.

The route through the shopping center occurs with CN NA NT 2023.2 with the same shaping point so the problem is not unique to 2024.1 for me.

I went from 2022.2 to 2024.1 so I am not sure which map this started with. And you are right about the apparent rarity of the issue. I tried to make it happen in a few other instances where it appeared that the shopping center road would be "a shortcut", but I was unable to make it happen. If this corner hadn't happened by chance, I never would have seen this. It seems like it will not happen very often. It would be nice if Garmin could address the underlying issue that triggers it.
