So with BaseCamp open and zumo attached, if you go to maps, manage map products, you should see this
Close that window. Then click on maps and make sure that the most recent map, installed on computer in C drive,
is checked.
Then go to maps, install maps and see this
Notice the zumo appears as device. Click continue and see this
Now you can select map areas ( they show in yellow outline) then continue. So select a couple to try. Note that some maps cover a very small area and you have to zoom in or will miss them. In rural states near big cities this is noticeable. The entire state may look like 2 maps, but if zoom in, you see another that is just 1 city. Colorado is this way. Denver is own map and test of state is 2. This isnt important for testing, but if works and are going to do this, you need to be aware or your maps will have holes in them.
With the maps on computer ( c drive) unlocked. E drive is the zumo itself. So in your case with 665, they would be different maps.Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices

Re: Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices
I found old nuvi with very old maps. Hooked it up and got this.
So map install sees the device, but the new map on my C drive is not available for this device. This is what you will likely get. I guess I can use this to play around with OSM so don't totally ruin the zumo.- lkraus

Re: Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices
I had forgotten about Garmin "locking" maps to a device. Sorry for the time wasted on a dead end. Most of my recent experiments with alternate maps has been with OSM, which are not locked. Just now tried to transfer CNNT NA 2024.2 (in BC from my XT) to the 590 and that map was not listed as an option. I'll have to use Express.
MapInstall is automatically installed when Basecamp is installed on a Windows computer. It should be available unless you have intentionally removed it.
You can access it directly (Start menu, type mapinstall) or from Basecamp by selecting the menu item "Maps", and then "Install Maps". Map Install will list the maps installed for Basecamp, and show a checked box for those already on the Zumo. Checking blank boxes will transfer eligible maps to the Zumo, unchecking a box will delete that map from the Zumo. If you are short on space, you can select smaller areas of a map to install.

No. Maps are locked to the device they are downloaded for otherwise we could share with anybody.

Re: Garmin withdraw map updates for older devices
Thanks for the suggestion! Using MapInstall through BaseCamp seems like a viable alternative for installing maps on the Zumo 665. I'll give it a try as you suggested and see if it resolves the issue. Appreciate the guidance!
