@stu, the EULAs stopped after the first couple of days.
My test today was inconclusive. I took it about three miles away with it shut down. When it was turned on it had satellites and no EULA came up. I will say that it finds satellites much faster than the 660 does. I should do a side-by-side on that just for giggles and grins.
Tom Schmitz when you press the @ and start typing a name make sure the name is highlighted and click on it and it will tag the user
Anyway for the EULA it will have more than likely got a gps signal and registered as moving so all will be good now

Stu, well, that works differently than VBulletin. Gotta hold that @ down and type, I see.
Thanks!

Ah! Now I get it. I didn't associate the appearance of the EULAs with the dang thing not having experienced moving. I just thought that it thought that I was too stupid to have gotten the message the first 10 times.

Tom Schmitz yeah a lot of forums all work differently and can be a bit confusing!
I had it with my 590 while setting up and it was doing my head in pinging up all the time thinking I cant be doing with this all the time
Then someone told me you have to take it for a drive

My XT just arrived.
The screen is a big improvement. I have a Drivesmart 61 since they were released. I was dreaming of having a Zumo with as nice a screen as that, glass and high res with a large footprint. The XT delivered, at least on two counts, very pleased.
I usually use tracks when riding, so for me visibility of the thin black or blue line without confusion is the most important, so I usually edit the default themes to lighten all dark colours so the track line is clear. This practice from the 595 works well with the XT, except for one thing: naming. I modified the original Garmin theme and named it Garmin-mod.kmtf The XT listed it in alphabetical order (a plus, opposed to end of list on the 595), but displays it as GARMIN (all caps) I will try "_" next time instead of "-" to see if that makes a difference or not.
It's a lot quicker than the 595 to show up in Windows Explorer in USB mode.
Another weird bit: updating through WiFi shows everything up to date, but connecting up to Garmin Express came up with a speed camera (cyclops) file update. The 61 does this as well, so I think WiFi updates will be ignored from now on in favour of Express.
One negative over the 595 is that you cannot individually enable/disable tracks to show on the map. You can only change the colours of the tracks. All tracks present in the GPX folder will show on the map.
Will see what else the two weekend rides I got planned brings up on the XT.

This is true if you've connected to Garmin Explore. But with a device that has never connected to Explore it will display the tracks individually. The issue is that once connected to Explore have the tracks are no longer managed on the device - they are managed by Garmin Explore.

OK, probably a stupid question but is Garmin Explore the new Garmin Basecamp?
Is this what you would now use to route plan? I had a look at it on my PC, although I don't have a compatable device as yet, and it didn't seem anything like Basecamp so I'm guessing it maybe isn't.
And if it isn't, what is??

Make an account and login. then you are able to plan a route in the section Map.

Yes, the tracks appear in Explore, but, same as the XT, no option to stop showing them on the map other then deleting the track... Do not get the logic of this.

Yes, I've tried that and all I get are straight lines. No options available to add shaping points or do any editing
I've also tried to import GPX routes from Basecamp without success.
This may well be user incompetance but what I am seeing is nowhere near as good as Basecamp.
I would re-iterate however that I do not have a compatable device. That may change things.

Followup on track visibility. I had a bit of search done to see how can one access Garmin Explore in a browser. Garmin certainly doesn't make it easy. For me it's aus.explore.garmin.com. Would imagine that changes for everyone pending on your country. The whole things looks very promising, for example excellent aerial detail, Google maps, but at the moment can't do a lot with it. Even disabling/enabling showing of individual tracks on the map is impossible. Oh well, back to Myroute for me...
