The unit is the 60csx
That is very old. What were you trying to update?
I originally lost my first 60csx back in 2008 and purchased a direct replacement in 2008. I have TOPOGB v2 from the same era and back then a phonecall to Garmin allowed me to load the maps onto my replacement unit
After starting up the 60csx (it has been lying in a drawer for years) I noticed there was no memory card so I inserted a blank and tried to download the TOPOGBv2 onto it but unit says it cant unlock maps, annoyingly Garmin dont support the unit no more so couldnt help me.
Strange one as same software and hardware paired up back in the day!!!!

I also had the same problem when updating a 390LM - It also initially said it couldn't unlock maps - I used the Garmin support chat line and their answer was that I needed to upgrade to a new unit!
So the unit is left with just Southern Europe Maps installed
That's nonsense. Try this method

Thank you for that link and advice, both My XT and another family 396 updated as normal, it was just the 390 that had the problem - bearing in mind numerous people seem to be having the same problem I am guessing Garmin will correct the problem via an update to Garmin Express soon! The 390 isn't being used for a couple of months so I will wait for that, but if they don't I will try the method you have suggested sussamb.

No doubt because it doesn't have the correct unlock codes, shame you lost the sd card. Surprised Garmin weren't able to help you with that though.

My Zumo 350LM is "lifetime maps". I would like to understand the process of how the maps are authorised and unlocked.
Can you share how I can find my unlock codes?

Sorry, I was replying to Chris Mackay about his handheld, you needn't worry about unlock codes as Express deals with that for you.

It has been fixed (at least for me).
Plug in again and there should be another map update. This time full Europe, if you click on View Details.
Thanks to Garmin Support.
Next map update I will remember to check the detail (Southern or full Europe) before going ahead.
Seeing other affected people on here has been supportive

Frustratingly, still the same for me - here is a pic of the only Map options I have!
