Please @jfheath , it would be very helpful if you reported this error to Garmin technical service, they tell me that "there is no user with the same problem." I don't believe it.
Please, it is very important that all users who have the same problem send it to technical service so that engineering can do something. Thank you so much.
Ah - I do. Goodness me. But I don't just go to them with a problem - I go to them with a set of well documented evidence. That cuts out all of the try this, try that, try the other. So for example - I am sitting here at my desk with my crash helmet on, Zumo XT2 powered by a spare XT1 cradle on my desk. Video camera point at it. Trying to work out exactly when the BT connection is broken.
So that I can tell them when it breaks and how to get it to return (you wont believe the answer to that last one !!). Then they are going to make out that it is the fault of the phone. So I need to prove to them that isn't the case - because with the same gear with the XT1 it works perfectly OK, and witht he same gear with the 595 it works perfectly OK.
Then I will find out what happens it I disable the Tread App with the XT2.
See what I mean ? Give them no way out. But it does mean that lots of people have to report it. But I'm not the one that you need to push to do that. I do it anyway. If you want to help, get onto some of the other forums - simpel - point out the fault, say you have reported it and ask other to report it too if they have the issue.
I was on at them for 2 whole years with the XT RUT issue. The weird routing behaviour after a route has been recalculated and you deviate from the plotted line. It never calculates a new route to the next route point. Instead it calculates to the last point that it calculated - which is usually behind you. They never fixed it for the XT1. They seem to have addressed the symptoms for the XT2 (it seems to limit the number of successive U turn requests, but still allows 'turn around loops').
Still it is good to see that they can introduce new hardware that makes them more money, and they can at last get rid of the end of ride adverts.
I queried progress with the routes from GPX files being altered by the Tread app. It's on-going.
I don't know whether I believe that or not....................
Right - lets try all of those test again with 4.80 installed. Thanks for the info on that.
Something similar is happening to me with the issue of Bluetooth interruptions:
Garmin technical service has always made me believe that the disconnection failure must be in my Xiaomi or my headphones, but it was not like that. It took me a while to realize. Now that I have changed the phone, it is clear to me.
"Last test I performed:
I connect XT2/Samsung A55/Cardo Packtalk, all from 0. Having forgotten everything and installing the XT2/phone I do it without linking Tread App. In this case:
- Calls are not interrupted
- The music doesn't stop
So, in conclusion, there is something about the Tread App's Bluetooth syncing and management that causes the interruptions."
We will see what he says now regarding this, because it is indisputable.

I’ve been using my XT2 and Cardo Pro separately connected to my iPhone and I’ve found it to be the best like this.
I can still see who’s calling me and my music on the XT2 while I answer it on the Cardo.
Only downside is that I can’t listen to XT2’s navigation. I’m fine looking down to see where to go.

I have also used that configuration, even with the motorcycle's TFT. The problem with that is that you cannot hear the POIs of the XT2 (in my case I use fixed and mobile radars a lot, so as not to get confused). In my case I have achieved a fairly stable connection with everything, except the calls, which are sometimes cut off after 30 seconds, other times in 2-3 minutes.
I think the Bluetooth connection also improves somewhat when the Wi-Fi of the XT2 and the phone are disconnected. Does this make any sense?

Ye gods, these updates are coming thick and fast. It shows that they are doing something to it.
I wonder if they will get to the 'make it work' update soon ?
Tried 2.9.55 today
The issue with via points moving onto a faster road still remains.
Since that was reported a good while before the phone call issue, I doubt that has been fixed either.
I'm resigning myself to ditching the Tread app and managing without weather info and traffic /road closure info.
Then I can use my Basecamp routes.

I'm hoping that they can make Tread interact with the XT2 then when I go away on holidays, I can just take a tablet / smartphone to tweak routes, rather than having to take my laptop as I find route planning on Tread much easier than on the XT2. Then I'll keep the weather / traffic info

I hope so too - but I noticed yesterday that Via point names on an existing routes had all been changed to 'Stop' in the phone's Tread App (after update). I have yet to find out whether or not this was a glitch due to updating the software, or if it is a new feature.
Its just that at present, the XT2 seems to be getting to be more and more unreliable from my experience. BT disrupted after a phone call (and during), shaping points moved from present route onto a faster route, route point names discarded ..... Don't get me wrong - I really like it and the cradle is in prime spot on the bike. But the XT1 cradle is still in place.
Get rid of Tread and all is OK - except it still displays RUT behaviour - but that is easily solved by using the Copy facility.

I'm using 2.9.55 and 4.8. I have mine set to not synch to explore/tread. I still get weather and traffic. I just used it last weekend and it worked great with my basecamp routes.

Totally agree. I think engineers are messing around adding more features to Tread App when the basics still don't work well. I'm going to wait to see what Garmin tells me about the Bluetooth problems, but if there is no solution, I think I'm going to sell everything and switch to an Android. I really like the screen of the XT2, but I think that in 2024 a device should perform much better. We have been betatester for a year and a half for an application that still does not work well
.
We'll see what Garmin responds,

Oh - do tell please. That is how I used to have the XT and Garmin Drive set up - but part way through the Drive install process it allows you to not connect to Garmin Drive.
It's Ok, I found it / Remembered it.
Something that I posted on an XT2 thread on 10 Jan 24 - long before I got an XT2 - described how to do this very thing on the XT1 and Garmin Drive.... The same process was tried and worked on the XT2.
I'd forgotten that the process changed part way through the post sale development of the XT1, later requiring a full system reset to disconnect from the Drive App. Seems the XT2 / Tread system is the same. I'd only tried the previous method of resetting the Explore Database.
So in trying to find out where you located the information, I've been routed back to one if my own posts.
Memory is wonderful. I wish that I had such a thing.
