BC 4.7.4

I'm having a problem and have searched around but can't find an answer. Locked maps in Base Camp.

I have BC 4.7.4. I have City Navigator North America NT 2023.1. This is exactly what it says in the box in Base Camp.

1) every time I open Base Camp, I get a message box saying that this map needs to be unlocked. I attempt (I think) to do this but nothing changes;
2) if I select CNNA NT 2022.2 then the map looks "normal", i.e., all the roads are there. If I select CNNA NT 2023.1 then just major roads are shown regardless of detail level. Additionally, on the roads shown in 2023.1, there's no smooth curves. Everything is angled unnaturally.

Any suggestions of what I can do and how to do it to use 2023.1?

I'd try uninstalling then reinstall the map.

After much searching I was able to uninstall the CN NA NT 2023.1 map from Base Camp. After another day of searching to figure out that an XT unit doesn't allow map install to the computer I was able to connect my 595 and install it 2023.1 for Base Camp.

So now what I have is:

Base Camp running, no device connected to computer. CN NA NT 2023.1 maps selected in the box at the top. Generic roads, no details at all even with "highest" detail selected. I noticed something I've never seen before- down in the bottom right hand corner where the map scale is, it says "Map Detail Locked".

Does anyone know how to unlock this map for use? I've been searching and trying but nothing seems to work.

Are you using the latest Express? There was an issue with this a while back, corrected with an Express update. V7.7.0 was the faulty one.

Hmmm, I'll have to check when I get home.

Well perhaps the bug has returned. If you can, try an earlier version of Express

After another day of searching I've found no working instructions of how to do this. Being non-techno-geeky I fear I'm in over my head with this. If someone can point me to some step-by-step instructions I'd appreciate it.

You CAN install CN NA NT to the computer using the XT.
From Express, click Map Details, Options, Install to Computer.

This worked with the last couple versions of Express and I just verified it works with Express 7.12.0.0 and BC 4.7.4. Highest level details, no "locked" messages with the XT unplugged.

Only CN NA NT can be transferred this way, the other XT maps cannot. I've read there might be a way to copy those to a USB stick and have them be recognized by Basecamp, but I've not seen a need to try that.
