I have several locations of passes that may be required on our up coming trip
I would like to save them to the XT so that I could use them as possible waypoints
any Ideas which would be the best way to do this please

I'd create the waypoints in BaseCamp and send them to my device. There may be better ways with a XT.

That was my way of thinking just thought I'd ask the experts.

Make sure that you create them with the flag tool in Basecamp.
Note that they appear in the lower left Window pane in BC
Select them and transfer to the XT

If you send them to internal storage, they are instantly available in XT Favourites. But they may not be available to import again at a later date if you delete them from the XT.

If you send them to SD card, they need to be imported after transfer, and they will always be available until you delete the gpx file. However, they sometimes refuse to show up for import, unless you have at least one favourite in internal storage.

Both methods work OK as long as you are aware of the small issues.
