I don't have an answer for that. I never used BC to do this - the site that I used for OSM created two files, one for BC, one for the Zumo. That site no longer functions.

Should I use BaseCamp to install OpenStreetMaps?
If you already have the map available in Basecamp, you can use the MapInstall program from Garmin to install the map on your device.

Instructions for installing a map in Basecamp should/can be provided by the site where you downloaded it. But I normally create a shortcut in the folder 'C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\Maps' pointing to the '.gmap' folder. The folder where the 'Info.xml' is stored.
Have a look at the program 'Javawa GMTK'. It can help a great deal installing and managing the maps in Basecamp.

Note: This answer assumes you're using WIndows. I dont have Mac experience.

Thank you very much for the reply.
Yes, I am on the Windows 10 system.
I realized that the problem I am having is getting my downloaded maps onto Garmin BaseCamp.
I will take a look at the URLs you posted and my answer might be in there.

This is a good site to find OSM map sources for Garmin/Basecamp:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM ... n/Download
As best I've been able to figure out, you need maps with a .gmap file extension to use them in Basecamp alone. Once you have them working in Basecamp, clicking Maps>Install Maps in Windows Basecamp will launch MapInstall to transfer the map to the XT via USB cable. MapInstall is automatically installed with Windows Basecamp. ( A Mac is different, I think it uses Map Manager?)
For the U.S., the maps from
https://www.openmapchest.org/ or
https://www.gmaptool.eu/ seem to work well.
I'd suggest trying out maps from different sources, the installation packages probably have the same data, but the appearance can be quite different.
I've also found that some maps with an .img extension can be saved on the XT and used with Basecamp as long as you keep the XT connected via USB. (Might work off a USB stick, also)
