XT cutting corners to unsuitable roads

Hi
On several routes in rural locations , the XT has decided to cut the corner and use single track roads some unrideable.
I'm not talking areas of country lanes , but using A or B roads , IE so traveling down an A road and will be taking a right turn on a B road , rather going to the A/B junction, the XT plots a route to cut the corner to these unsuitable lanes if they on the map.
The XT is set to take the fastest route , adjusting the adventures route setting make no difference to this particular part of the route, It makes no difference if the route is a simple A to B or made up of waypoints or shaping points .
Anyone else had similar problems or resolved it
Regards Woody

This is what all Zumos seem to do. Personally I've learnt to check each route carefully for just such occurances. I'll be interested to see if anyone has found a solution!

It looks from your screenshots that you have the topo maps active.
Try switching to City Navigator.

Potentially that's more an issue with the map you're using, if the map maker hasn't differentiated between those two roads/tracks a Garmin has no way of telling that the road isn't suitable.

I have seen this behavior numerous times when using a City Navigator map. I have attributed all of them to mapping errors where unpaved roads were indicated as paved on the map. Fortunately, I was riding solo in all cases. I would have been in trouble on one of them had I been two-up fully loaded. Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything we can do when a map is wrong.

I've reported several errors to Garmin at
https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=p ... OXw5vlRyu5 and directly to Garmin's CN map provider at
https://mapfeedback.here.com/#/report.
Depending on when the report is received, the time to verified and correct the data, and the update schedule, it may take one or two updates before the correction is reflected on the map.

I have also reported errors to Garmin. I didn't know about being able to report to Here. Thanks for that URL.
The Garmin map reporting URL provided by
@lkraus is dead. This one works:
https://supportforms.garmin.com/en-US/f ... map-error/
I just attempted to report my most recent unpaved/paved error to Here. Their road info shows the road as unpaved. The unknown is whether the road info has been corrected since CN NA NT 2024.1. Note: they have a pretty neat reporting tool compared to Garmin's fill-in form.

I see this a lot. The XT seems determined to bypass anything resembling a downtown area, no matter what. I either add more shaping points to force it to go where I want or use prompted recalculation, say NO to ignore the turn instructions to go the way I want, then re-join the route later.
