XT UNABLE TO CALCULATE ROUTE LOADED WITH TRIP PLANER.

QUESTION: When I import and load a route with trip planer it comes up with "unable to calculate route" i have a hunch but need a verification. i am in the US the XT has North America loaded as the main map set I have the Europe maps on the SD card inserted and it does acknowledge that. i am routing for a trip to Scotland. when i load a route less than 100 miles with only a couple of flag points, and try to map it i gets to about 9% and stops and says unable to calculate. is that because it is trying to plot a route from my current location to the beginning of the Route in Scotland? i am just trying to verify it will accept and plot my routes before i go there.

Thanks in advance

Dman

Yeah, the Zumo has trouble routing across oceans, the road maps are pretty sketchy.

On the Zumo, check the box at Settings>Navigation>GPS simulator.
Use one of these methods to pick a starting point in Scotland.

To simulate a position

Turn Gps Sumlator On .... in Settings -> Navigation

Browse the map of Scotland and tap a location on the map, or select a favourite / saved location to get the right section of the map on the screen. You may need to tap again to get a flag icon. It helps if it close to your start, but it doesn't really matter.

No need to save it. A description or location name appears at the bottom. Tap it.

The screen in landscape view splits in half. Right hand shows the map. Left hand shows some details about the location.

Scroll down. One of the bottom entries is 'Set Location'. Select that.

Your position is now set - but do not let the Xt power off, because it turns the satnav on again.
Power your Xt using a USB cable to keep it alive.

But you don't need to do this to load a route and preview it.

But if you want to apply the re-save fix to make the route appear as saved - to avoid the RUT problem, you need to have your position set somewhere near the start - cos it will add your current (simulated) position to the start. Thats ok, when you get on the bike, just select the original start point when it asks you to select the next destination. (3rd in the list, after closest entry point.)
