Music PLayer

I use MediaMonkey to manage my music library on pc and also have the app on my Galaxy S23 Ultra with the latest update. The media player on the XT2 shows my phone as the music source but I am not able to use the controls nor does it show any track info. I can control things from my phone and the audio plays just fine through me Sena SRL Mesh. This did work a while ago.
Any ideas?

I was going to tell you about the problems I had trying to use my Galaxy S10 with MediaMonkey as my source for music through my XT to my Sena S20 and how it never worked and how I gave up years ago and how it is just easier to put mp3 files on the SD card in the XT even though I can never get the album art to display...

Then I thought I better double check the exact nature of the problems, brought my helmet inside with the XT and phone, and...
it's all working absolutely perfectly.

Title, artist, album, album art, cool background I never noticed before, play/pause, forward, back.

So all I can really say is, don't give up, because it should all work as you expect. I just don't know why it does.

Can't choose what to play from the XT, but I usually just let the player do a random shuffle of whatever is available.

I'm not going to worry about it too much as the music sounds a little better when going from phone to headset directly as opposed to being funneled through the XT2. Besides, I just put on a playlist and can control it from my headset directly better if I do at all.

I tried last year with my XT, phone and Bluetooth receiver. As you've found, having the music funneled through the gps is a pain and rarely works without fiddling with it 2 or 3 times per day. With the times I want music from the phone I unpair the gps from the phone. I loose weather and traffic alerts but this combo always works.

I can have both my headset and XT2 connected to my phone simultaneously and have the media checked on the headset connection only. My Sena SRL Mesh uses the dedicated GPS connection it has so I still get audio directions while music streams from my phone directly. As long as it keeps working this way I'm happy. My XT2 is really only there for navigation and the less fiddling withbit the better. I can still use the phone functions which might come in handy.
And I still have Tread connectivity for traffic/weather.

Same problem. Has had a lot of mails going between ma end Garmin about this. Cannot see any albums or artists, and cannot control my music (start, stop, next) when phone is the source. The very strange thing is that briefly on two occations, IT WORKED!!. Controlling phone I mean. Then, next time I connected, not working again. Garmin finally called the unit back for check. Today, I received a brand new one. Did all the updates via Garmin Express, connected my phone and headset again. All indicators "green". Still same problem with both issues. Can this be a phone problem? Any settings to tick off?

Another thought. Had to convert files from MP4 to MP3 in order to uoload to the unit. Maybe some information (album, artist) are lost when converted? Many threads about this on the forum, so it may not be an issue? Same problems for those just uploading original MP3 files.

I think .....

the media files are placed in the same folder as the track. Mine doesn't show media files either, but my XT used to. I believe that is because originally I copied my entire folder structure to the XT from my hard drive. Before that, my hard drive had been accessed a few times by Windows Media player - and that goes hunting for track information and album images.

Point something like media player at your XT2 folder (if it will read from a usb device) and let it do its stuff. There may be an option to download images that needs to be turned on.

I found out the following. Phone and headset is connected via XT2. Phone chosen as source in music-player, and the buttons don't work, If I then disconnect the bluetooth link from my phone, and re-connect it, things works fine. I can control from XT2, and I see information about songs. The strange ting is that if I put the XT2 in hibernation or turn it off compleatly, the problen comes back when starting up again. Phone and headset connects automatically. To correct, I need to un-link and link from my phone again. I have informed Garmin about this, whitch have people looking ito my case. Hopefully they can find out. It seems like the "control protocols" are lost when re-starting XT2. If opening the music player at once after re-start, I can see the controls comes back when the phone connects. After 3-4 sec it stops working. Of cource, I can work around the issue like others do, but I think Garmin should be helt accoutable for their software. If a feature is there, it should work.

This problem is created by Tread App's poor bluetooth management. It is a failure similar to calls that are interrupted or synchronization that is interrupted. When you turn off with a short press, and the Tread of the mobile phone is hooked again, the song cover usually appears again, and that is when the songs can be managed via headphones, etc.

I am already tired of sending complaints to Garmin about the Bluetooth problems we are suffering.

You are right. When forceing the app to close, the problem goes away.
