I'm going on a motorcycle tour in Tuscany Italy next month and I'd like to use the Zumo XT2 to track our route. How do I achieve that? Do I need to purchase the European sd card or can it be downloaded somehow?

Garmin City Navigator Europe NTU maps will cost about $100. They are available for download or on microSD card. The download is locked to work only with your particular XT2, the card version is copy protected. Using either in Basecamp requires that you connect the XT2 via USB. Neither can be updated. A Google search will often turn up used cards available for sale - probably from users like yourself that only need the maps for a short time.

Open Streets Maps for Garmin covering most roads on this planet are available for free, but take a little more work to install. The versions provided by openmapchest.org are very detailed and easy to read. They are updated weekly and installation instructions are on the web site.
