Waypoint moved 25 miles out of position after uploading from BC

Hi all,

First post here. This is a great forum and I've found lots of useful tips and tricks so thanks to all who contribute. I had a search but I haven't seen reference to a new problem I've just encountered. I've been using Basecamp and Garmin devices for years but this is a new one on me.

I've created a route in Basecamp and transferred it to my XT. The route shows as intended in Basecamp but one of the waypoints moves 25 miles away to show in the wrong part of the route, joined with a straight line cross-country.

The waypoint at Charlbury is actually included in the route twice. The first pass through it was correct, however after completing the loop and approaching Charlbury for the second time the XT directed me to leave the road and ride in a straight line for 25 miles as it now thought the waypoint was 25 miles away. You can see the extra flag at the top left of the screenshot. Maybe it's something to do with having the same waypoint twice in the route. I've tried uploading the route again and it does it consistently. Anyone seen this? Any suggestions to avoid it?

Thanks,
Jomo

The XT has problems with waypoints included multiple times in a route, see: viewtopic.php?p=17656&hilit=import+route#p17656

You could try to duplicate and rename the waypoints so their names will be unique. (E.G. Charlbury_1 and Charlbury_2) Remove the original ones from the route and add the newly created.

Ah, that’s interesting This definitely would have caught me out on an upcoming European tour but easy to work around now that I know. Thanks Frank.
