This is a problem I picked up from a Facebook member. G.O.
Ok - sorry for the delay - I was busy yesterday. I've reproduced your setup. Music from spotify is playing through my edge into my helmet as I type.G.O. on Facebook wrote:Trying to bluetooth the XT2 and Cardo Packtalk and Samsung phone. The phones crashes. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong.
After a brief exchange G.O. provided the following.
... The music is from Spotify on my phone. It says it is playing on the phone but no music in helmet .
If I press play on the XT2 it crashes. (the phone)
If I select music from the XT2 MP3 player, the music from spotify on the phone pauses and the music from the XT2 MP3 player takes over. When I pause the MP3 player on my XT2, spotify resumes playing the spotify music from where it paused.
This is how mine is set up to do this. You may have to destroy your existing bluetooth connections between phone, Edge and XT2 - both on your phone and on your XT2 to reproduce this.
1. Set up The XT2 to Pair with the Edge from Scratch.
I like to have the XT2 set up as a second phone rather than as a GPS and a first phone. I sometimes find it necessary to set up from scratch - ie no existing connections to the same device. Not always - but if I try and it fails, then I delete the existing connection / unpair and forget, and set it up again from scratch.
On the Edge - turn it on and then hold in the bottom button for five seconds. When it says 'Phone Pairing' roll the wheel forward so that it says '"2nd phone Pairing'.
On the XT2 - Settings->HeadphoneAdd a Headset->OK and select the displayed name for the Edge. Mine says Rider Edge 1
The Edge will say - "2nd Phone connected" and "Phone Connected". (It is referring to the same connection."
2. Set up The phone to pair with the Edge from Scratch.
On the Edge: Press and hold the bottom button for 5 seconds. It wiil say 'Phone Pairing'.
On the Phone: Settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth
Scan if necessary and choose BT_Zumo XT2 #123456789 (or whatever)
The phone will issue some prompts - eg allow access to contacts.
At some time the XT2 will ask - audio was detected from a BT device, to you want to play it through your device. I haven't got a clue what they intended by this statement (which device ?)- but on the grounds that it is easier to disconnect something than to connect it, say Yes.
- [Edit] This means that the XT2 has detected audio output from the phone. If you say yes to this, it switches the music source of the XT2 to be your Bluetooth Device (Eg the phone using Spotify). If you say no, it leaves the XT2 with its internal MP3 player selected. This is easily altered by tapping Music->Source on the XT2
Results
On my phone, the BT connectsions list Rider Edge 1 for calls and audio.
BT_Zumo XT2 #123456789 connected for calls and audio
The XT2 says under Settings -> Phone : Samsung Phone Connected and shows the blue icons for phone and music.
Under Settings -> Headphone : Rider Edge 1 with icons for headset and Music in blue.
When I play music on spotify on the phone - the music plays through the headset.
When I select Music on the XT2 I can select the source Bluetooth or MP3.
Bluetoth it says is disconnected.
MP3 has acces to my MP3 files on the SD card. When I choose a track from there, the spotify music stops. When I pause the MP3 music on the XT2, the spotify music picks up from where it was paused.
Curiously, and I didn't expect this, when I call the mobile the XT2 screen displays the incoming call details.
This isn't my preferred setup having the Edge as the Hub, but with this set up I cannot get it to produce the fault that G.O. posted.
(In fact so far I cannot see any difference between the Edge as the hub and the XT2 as the hub !!)
