Routes Change from Tread App to XT2

Can someone please help me. I design a route on the Tread app that I am happy with. Go to the XT2 and the route is there in the explore section so I select it and press go/start or whatever. The XT2 thenm says calculating route..I dont want this. The route then for me to foillow is different different to the tread one I designed.
It doesnt matter if I create the rought on Tread or import a garmin gpx file from friends etc. The XT2 wants to calculate the route everytime instead of just letting me follow the organised planned route. Its so frustrating!

That should not happen, and in my tests a couple of weeks ago, Everything that was set in the tread app is transferred with the route.
So it knows about the routing preferences (eg the 4 levels of adventutorus routing that were assigned) for each segment for example. They do not get transmitted with the gpx file, but the approrpriate data is written to the .trip file that is created when a route is imported.
But there are some setting that exist outside of the route ie they are set within the Zumo itself - and affect all routes. These are 'Popular Paths', 'Michelin Scenic Roads' and 'Bookmarked Great Rides'.
If the XT recalculates and these are selected differently on the XT2 from how they were selected in the Tread App - then I can see how that might make a difference.
I don't understand why it would be calculating the route though. It will say calculating - even though it is not calculating the route itself - it has a lot of organisation to do and working out times and distances using the riding profile that you have built up. IT may mean calculating the route but it doesn't mean that necessarily.
Go back to your tread app - check those three settings for the app. Give the route a new name. Then check that they are the same in XT2 route planner Planner. Try again.
I've only done a couple of test with this - but it is not what I observed - so I am curious about your observations. I did establish that those three items were set within the XT2 separately from the route.

I'd expect the XT2 to display the "calculating" message every time you begin a route, just like previous Zumos. A route ALWAYS involves some calculating because the Zumo must find a path from your current location to the entry point of the planned route.
If the planned portion of the route is being changed, then you need to consider insufficient via/shaping points, issues/incompatibilities with map versions, different planning software algorithms, gpx formats...

Agree completely.

It wasn't what I observed. I believed after a few simple tests that what the XT2 received from the Tread App was enough to enable it to reproduce the identical route using the same vias and shaping - should it need to recalculate. I had the three other options turned off both on the Tread App and on the XT2.
So if
@Touringman's observations are different, either I didn't look hard enough or there are some other factors affecting
@Touringman's route, or I am wrong.
I'll dig deeper when I get the chance.

If you import/copy a GPX file on your XT-2, it will most propably will leave a Route AND a Track on the XT-2.
The route is shown in the "items to import".
But if you look in the "Unasigned items" (or something similar) in the Explorer menu, you will also find a Track.
Use that Track, convert it to a route (waffle menu left-top) and use that Route...
You will see the route, exactly as the track...
Good luck,
Mike

Thanks for your comment Mike.
Your observation is correct if you use a route planner such as MRA or Basecamp - if you select the option to include a track. MRA does this by default.
But the issue described in the original comment is using the Tread App which is designed specifically for the XT2. It talks to the XT2 via BT and this does not involve a gpx file. Tread does not create a track of the route automatically, and there is no option to create one from the route.
You can export a gpx file from the Tread App, but it contains only the route points in the correct order, not the plot of the route itself - so you cannot use that to create a track.
With the XT2, any route from anywhere except the Tread App will be recalculated when it is imported and loaded. Even from Basecamp.
