New member here. I'm stalking Stu really so dont tell him

I have just bought a Garmin Zumo XT to go with my Zumo 550 and BWM Nav 5.
I'm looking to fit the XT onto my R1250RT. I'm not sure if i'm going to fit it stand alone or using the 3D adapter to the RT sat nav mount.
The 550 is the Honda one that i've owned for nearly 14 years and is fitted to my Honda Valadero.

So far what i have read on here has been great and very helpful, so well done all.

All The Best Martin

Hi @EasyRider - welcome to the forums.

You will find the XT has more similarities to your BMW Nav 5 than it has to the 550.

Take a good luck at the pdf file attached to the first post here

Download it. You will find the first two chapters relevant to what you already know about your Nav V. As I understand it, the Nav V was based on the Zumo 590. Not everyone who has 590s know the information in there - it will help you when moving forward with the XT.

Much of the information that relates to the 590 as regards route planning, also relates to the XT.

The XT has its own documents - not as a pdf, but as a series of links which are on this forum.

My R1250RS came with the BMW satnav mount. I removed that and fitted the XT mount instead. Wiring-wise the neatest solution was to trace where the satnav wiring meets the bike's main loom (you need to remove a few panels to get to it) and use a lead from Nippy Normans that plugs into the loom and connects to the XT mount. If you decide to go that route remove the BMW mount as carefully as you can, as you can sell it second hand!
