Greatings from Poland

Hello everyone! 👋
Greetings from Warsaw, Poland! I'm new to this forum and to motorcycling in general. Just got my first bike (a beautiful Suzuki V-Strom) and now I'm looking for a reliable GPS. Garmin Zumo seems popular, but there are so many models! 😵
I'd love to start using a Zumo for exploring Poland (and maybe beyond!), but I'm a bit overwhelmed. Any recommendations on which model would suit a beginner rider? I'm after something user-friendly but with good features. 🤔
I mostly ride around Warsaw and do short trips to places like Kampinos Forest. Planning some longer weekend routes to Mazury lakes soon. Key features I'm after:

Weather resistance (our Polish weather can be unpredictable!)
Glove-friendly interface
Route planning for our scenic countryside roads
Regular map updates (especially for our ever-changing road network)

Are there any Zumo users from Poland or Eastern Europe who can share their experiences? How does Zumo handle our local roads and conditions?
Also, any tips on mounting Zumo on a V-Strom would be much appreciated! 🙂
Thanks in advance for any advice! Looking forward to learning from experienced riders here. 🏍️💨
Greetings from Poland,

Welcome to the forum, Michei.

You'll love the V-Strom. I sure do my '06 DL650 with almost 80,000 miles (126,747 km).

I use a Zumo 590 on my motorcycles and really like it but it is not a current model. I mount it on the V-Strom with a SW-Motech vibration dampened mount, that attaches under the windshield and puts the GPS just above the dash. On the SW-Motech I have a Touratech locking mount with the Garmin motorcycle power mount.

If buying new, I'd probably go with a Zumo XT but have no real experience with it. I'm sure others with experience with the XT and XT2 will chime in.

Here's a copy of pics of the mounts, not the best but you get the idea:

Hi @Michel_On_Zumo, Welcome to this forum. I do touring around the USA, both short trips and long distance. I own a zumo
XT and use Basecamp to plan my routes. There was a little learning curve to Basecamp but time spent with tutorials first made it relatively painless. The XT is a good device for weather resistance and glove-friendliness. It has a number of issues. Most are associated with the results it produces whenever it recalculates a pre-planned route. I follow the posts about the XT2 and do not see how Garmin justifies its price compared to the XT. There are folks here that own both so I hope they contribute their recommendations. Good look with riding & your foray into the satnav world. Ride safe.
