The map on my XT has been updated to CN NA NT 2520.20 without issue.
CN NA NT 2520.20 has been installed to my Windows 11 23H2 PC without issue. Basecamp recognizes it. All seems well but I have not done any route work yet.

Maps updated on Zumo 590 and Basecamp (Windows 7 Pro SP 1) so far. I have done a few recalcs in Basecamp with no issues.

I now have 2 sets of maps on my XT internal storage from this update: 2 sets of CN NA, 2 sets of foursqure, 2 sets of topo. Is this a problem? How do I fix it?

In addition, it seems my XT is now once again nothing more than a glorified paperweight. If a route imports now takes 4-6 MINUTES when prior to the "update" it took 8-20 SECONDS. The imported route will not open, see below. Most of my routes routes will not import at all. The XT says simply "Cannot calculate the route."

Obviously the reasons I normally refuse to ever update a Garmin device.......

Nothing to be fixed. CN NA like CN EU is now so big it's split in two to stay under the FAT32 4Gb limit. Foursquare isn't a map as such, it's another POI database. Not sure which areas the topo maps cover but having them selected at the same time as the NA ones might cause the long routing times you're experiencing so try unchecking them.

Russ isn't a 'computer' guy so I suspect he is seeing duplicates on the XT and not internal storage using a file explorer. I don't see duplicates on my XT but an attempt to import a route resulted in hang at the 97% mark. I restarted the XT and Trip Planner now opens with a blue circular rotating arrow. I have not yet attempted any troubleshooting.

A second restart of my XT solved the Trip Planner startup issue. The route that hung at 97% during import was not listed so it had failed. An import of a different route took about 4 minutes instead of the expected seconds so this is consistent with what Russ reported. The routes I have attempted to import were created in Basecamp with the previous map. Will this automatically trigger a calculation by the XT when imported due to the map version mismatch?

@sussamb, you mentioned disabling topoactive maps. Won't this also disable access to their POIs? AFAIK, I have always had it and the CN NA map enabled.

Actually, with my XT connected to my laptop, in Base Camp I'm seeing 2 CN NA NT map sets. Took some searching but I found by unplugging the XT and checking my maps/installed maps, one set is for the ALL USA and the other is ALL MEXICO & CANADA.

TOPO maps have always been checked, I see no reason they shouldn't be now.

Using Garmin Express, I re-installed the map update to my XT. Then, again using Garmin Express, installed the maps to my computer. Then I re-connected the XT to the laptop and waited. Then using Base Camp I recalculated all the routes on my SD card (my exclusive storage space for routes).

Now importing 2 routes at a time takes less than 2 seconds, the way it should be. There have been no changes in the 6 or so routes I've checked so far.

I think this explains it, based on my supposition that routes were being calculated by the XT because of the map version mismatch between the map used to create the routes and the one currently on the XT.

Actually, what you are seeing is the two files that make up the CN NA NT map on the XT. When it is installed to the computer it is installed as one file.
