You cannot 'download' a Garmin map from a device to BaseCamp. What BaseCamp does is index a map so it can read it from the device.

Use Express and select the option to download the map to your PC.

If I'm understanding correctly, the answer is that until you download the map using Express to your Mac it will use whatever is already there unless you connect the GPS. As sussamb said, you need to run Express with the GPS connected and use the option in Express to download to your Mac. Then in BC you need to make sure you have selected that new map, not your old one(s). In your user account on your Mac under Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps you can see where maps are stored and delete or move the old ones to avoid confusion once you have the latest map installed.

Yes, there is a drop-down menu in Basecamp top menu bar labeled "Currently Displayed Map" which should list all the maps in your Maps folder, plus the built-in (and useless for routing) Global Map.

Ok, now when I do that,it doesn't show any map but the useless global map,so,how could I get one of the other maps in there?

Neill, you need to follow sussamb's advice: connect your GPS, launch Express, and use its option to download the map to your Mac. It will then appear as a choice in that menu.

I don't have my XT handy so can't specify the exact steps in Express, but if I recall correctly you need to act as if you are downloading the map again, like you did for the GPS itself, but instead choose an option to put it on your Mac.

And this where I came in,I can't download the map on my device to my computer using garmin Express,it stops 2.9% into dowload! Which is why I ask if it's possuble to install one of the maps in library,to basecamp?

Sorry, I should have reviewed your first post. Sometimes a download gets corrupted and causes the kind of mess you are in. Are there any maps in the Maps folder? If yes, move them out of there and try again. If no, try removing the Basecamp preferences file (it's something like basecamp.plist) from its place and try again. Be sure your Internet connection is good and be aware that sometimes Garmin's server just bogs down, so "try again later" as they say most unhelpfully.
