Now you know...

Wonder how it is that Garmin can seemingly abandon an entire community of users (i.e. Motorcyclists), here's an example of where they are putting their efforts. Instead of improving BaseCamp, better connectivity with phones, headsets, etc., they are focused on another community. Along with watches, avionics, marine, on and on...

Enjoy your units while you can, and consider this when you are thinking of buying a new GPS / SatNav for your ride.

Ah, that's very clever of them, encouraging people to stay indoors where they don't need GPS signals, mapping, communications, making their own routes/tracks etc, it's all done for you.

I have had it clear for a long time, basically since I bought the XT2 almost two years ago and after seeing the disaster and little support from the manufacturer for this device, too many problems. I should never buy the XT2 and it is an expensive product for the little it has to offer.

My wife bought me the XT2 for my birthday, when it first arrived in Canada. (I was familiar with Basecamp as I use it to create tracks for our kayak excursions, running them on a 610 Montana.) It took me no time at all to hate Tread and to be very disappointed in the "that's by design" replies from Garmin support every time I brought up a problem.
Then, I found this place. Saying it was an epiphany would be stretching things :D , but I can say that members here were very open in their support. Nothing that I had issues with was new to them. Thanks to them, I continue to use Basecamp to create routes. When I have issues, I post them here and they are, without exception, resolved.
So, in short, as has been said, "don't give up". Simply accept that you will get no help at all from Garmin, come here for answers to your questions and have fun with your XT2.
