My 396 shows the routes that I had created on Basecamp available for Import when I'm on the 396 Trip Planner
I Exported those route files from Basecamp to the 396 SD Card using the file explorer copy/paste method
but now I just don't know how to get rid of them from Trip Planner Import list
I don't see a delete route button on Trip Planner

connecting the 396 to Computer, I can see these 4 files
This PC > zumo 396 > Internal Storage > GPX

Current.gpx
CurrentTrackLog.gpx
Position.gpx
temp.gpx

are the routes I want to delete within any of those 4 file?
Can I just delete the whole file?
help lol

You can view the contents of the SDcard and delete individual routes, tracks, etc. using Basecamp.

hi Ikraus, thanks
here is what i did,
on my PC, I used file explorer to delete all those 4 gpx files from 396 Internal Storage
then disconnecting zumo from PC, and going into 396 Trip Planner, all those routes are gone now
thanks

but now I forget how to do the Import of gpx files that's on the SD Card and import them into 396 memory
no routes on the SD Card, just gpx waypoints
I can't find or remember how to Import them from SD Card into 396 Saved

I Exported those gpx files from Basecamp to a PC location then copy/paste them to 396 SD Card
they are on the card inside my new Folder name and that;s under the GPX folder on Card
I can't get at them for Import on the 396, help, I forget how

I'm not sure about the 396, but I very much suspect that if you have a gpx file on the SD card or in internal storage, that import leaves those files intact. ie you can delete imported routes from your trip planner app, but they will still be there to import again. You can probably import a route a number of times - the zumo will put a number at the end of each route to distinguish them. Of course if you gave used long route names, then you may not get to see that number !

Most Gpx files are ones that you have put there, but the four that you mention are created by the system.

temp.gpx is used by Basecamp as a temporary storage for routes that are transferred by usb cable to the Zumo. Depending on the connection type - Mass storage or Media Transfer - temp.gpx may be overwritten if you send more data after having disconnected the usb cable in the meantime. Data needs to be imported on the Zumo befire more data is sent from Basecamp.

Position.gpx contains your last known position before you turned off the Zumo. When you turn it on again, it assumes that you are in the same position, which means it knows where you are on the planet, and it makes working out where the satellites are much faster. It needs this to get an accurate fix. If you delete it, it might take a few minutes before it gets a good satellite fix on your position.

CurrentTrackLog.gpx and the Archive Folder contain tracks of where you have ridden. These can be loaded into (say) Basecamp, which has some useful tools for analysising the data, drawing graphs and splitting and joining track fragments. When CurrenTrackLog.gpx gets full, it is copied to the archive folder and named with a sequence number 1,gpx, 2.gpx etc. A new CurrentTrackLog.gox is then started. Different Zumos carry out this processing in different ways, but at the time the 396 came out, it was common to keep the latest 20 archived logs, and delete the oldest. So when 21.gpx is created, 1.gpx will be deleted. If you want to keep them, then copy the Archive folder every 2-3 months - depending on how much you ride.

Current.gpx contains all of the routes that are in the zumo trip planner. If you delete this, then you may lose your trips. At start up, the Zumo does its housekeeping eg with the archive folder. If Current.gpx isn't there, it creates a new one.

Somewhere - I don't know where - there is a way that Current.gpx can be copied back or recreated. I know this because if you are trying to clear out your Zumo, on restart, stuff you have deleted comes back.

If you want to clear it out completely, on the screen delete all trips, all tracks, all favourites /saved. Clear recently found / history. Then plug in the USB cable and start it up in usb mode. Delete Current.gpx from Internal Storage/gpx and delete any gpx files that you have placed in the gpx folder on the sd card or in internal storage. The restart the Zumo.

Some Zumos cannot find waypoints on the SD card unless it has at least one stored in memory. If that happens - tap the map to create a point and save it. The middung data on the sd card magically becomes available.

Excuse any typos. Its late and I am using the ipad one finger typing. Sometimes the keypress doesn't register, or i miss the key.
