Combined BC Map and Dialogue table.

When I am preparing a Route in BC, I switch often between the Map and the Route Dialogue table. It would be convenient if I could see both Map and Dialogue table together. I have been thinking of this for a while and how tedious it is to go back and forth esp. when checking route point locations on the map, renaming the points etc.
I just read a post by Peobody that includes combined screen (map and table) and wonder if it is possible to manipulate data in the Dialogue table and at the same time see the changes on the map. That would be a marvel and make using BC so much quicker and more enjoyable.
Comments would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mikey

What's a "route dialogue table", and what does it look like? These are foreign terms to me.

AFIK, there is no way to display the route details window (eg: Route Dialogue table) while working on the map. It closes as soon as the map pane gets focus. I can see your point about the convenience of being able to keep it open but for me, I only open it once I'm done with the route, as a final check of point positions and to change points to Via or Shaping as desired. One thing I do is I rename route points as I create them, giving them a more meaningful name if desired, and always prefixing each with a number sequenced as they will be encountered in the route. When I add interim points I will add a letter rather than go back and rename all just to re-number them (eg: 01, 02, 02a 02b, 03, 04, 04a, 05). Also, renaming can be done in the lower left pane.

The map will reflect changes made in the route table.
The table will stay open and reflect changes made in the map window with the hand(pan) tool. So the map can be panned, zoomed, the route dragged around on the map, via/shaping points added (depending on drop location) or moved - all while the route table stays open.

It won't stay open when you use the New Waypoint tool, which is what I used to test whether it would stay open.
@lkraus is correct about the rest. I was especially surprised to find that searches worked while the table stayed open.

The table will stay open, but hidden if the Map occupies the main window, and vice versa. I was hoping to have the Route dialogue box and Map both visible on the one screen, Split possibly.
Thank you. Mikey

It is the table/box that contains all the Route points; Via/Shaping/Start and End, with interval distances, times etc.
‘Dialogue boxes’ in computer speak are secondary boxes that can stay open in the background while I am working on a main page, in this case the Map.

Oh, I see. No, I've never found a way to have them both always open on one screen. But try 2 screens, I do this all the time, mostly b/c I need instructions open at the same time as I'm doing something. Switching back and forth isn't helpful. 2 screens allows the dialogue box you seek to always be open in addition to, not instead of, the map. I'm still using an old CRT screen but any modern tv will do.

The route table always has a separate window, there is no way to show it as a frame within the main Basecamp window.
A smaller Basecamp window will let the route table remain visible, but will severely limit the visible map area on a CRT. Even a large CRT does not offer enough resolution to show that much information at once.
I hate to constantly switch windows, pan, zoom or scroll, I want to see a lot of information at a glance.
I tried using two monitors but could never develop a good workflow and was constantly fiddling with settings and window positions.
My desktop monitor now is a 48" 4K TV, with the pixel count of four HD (1920x1080) monitors. Text is a bit too small at that resolution, so I scale it to 115%. A trial with a larger 4K TV ( and larger pixels) failed because it was too close, requiring more head movement and refocusing, which these old eyes do not do well.

It's Jargon, Russ. In any windows based program a smaller box will pop up in order to get information from you - like selecting a file to open, like when you ask to print, like when you double click on a route in Basecamp. Their proper name is "Dialog Box". It's not a very user friendly term and it is spelled incorrectly for me. But that is what they are called.
The set of route points that represent the points that the route must pass through is often referred to as a 'Route List', or a 'Trip List', or a 'Route Properties table'. Or any combination of those terms (or any other that Garmin decide to come up with. Previously,, the Zumo has always referred to them as Trips. The XT2 now (correctly in my opinion) refers to the as 'Routes'.
I have a double screen. It doesn't help a great deal - it just means that I have a lot of windows open and can't find the ones that I want. If I am creating a video - I am recording what is on one screen , so I tend to have the main map shrunk slightly smaller than the screen size, so that I can slide route list dialog box over to the right hand side. It stays out of the way and it will remain open while I work on the map - but if I press the right hand mouse button, it closes down. The dialog box can be made to slide partly off the screen - just leaving the route point names - or you can reduce the amount of data on display by unticking the 'More Info' box.
