Is that a light blue ?
If so it is possibly to do with your riding history - it keeps a record of where you have ridden for quite a while. Typically about 3 months worht - but it varies depending on how much riding you do. 20 x 1Gb files.
I like to keep these - BAsecamp can be used to organise, display and analyse them. I find them a useful historical record - particularly for the long tours that we have embarked on over the years, or finding those really good roads that we discovered by acident.
You can do a few things if they are bothering you on the XT1
Settings->Device->Travel History.
- If you untick that the riding history is not recorded at all. This means that the XT cannot customise its ETAs, travlling time and preferred road type according to how you ride.
Settings->Map & Vehicle->Map Layers ->Travel History
- This is the option that allows or prevents the riding history to be dsiplayed on the map. If it is unticked, the history is still recorded, but you don't see the light blue snail trail. I normally ride with it off. But if we are going on tour to Europefor a few weeks, I like to have it turned on - its nice to review which roads we traveled - and also when we think - we've done this bit before haven''t we ? the trail will confirm (or not) that feeling.
The XT has a feature on the screen which allows these to be viewed by date and time. Apps->Tracks and on the right hand side there are two tabs. The bottom tab that looks like a calculator lists them all. I've got hundreds of them listed at present, each of a few yards. That is becasue the XT1 has not been out of the house for a few months, but it records its movement about my desk !.
The tracks should be long and continuous. If they are broken that that is apretty good sign that your route has got stuck in the RUT issue. There is something particualr about what the XT does in that situation that makes it stop recording the track for a period. If you make RUT free routes, that fragmentation of the track does not happen.
If you click the Track icon at the bottom of the XT1 screen (rather than selecting Apps->Tracks), then you can control the recording of your tracks manually. Tap Start on the first (orange) screen. It will keep recording until you tap Stop - but that screen doesn't have to be displayed while it is recording. A little orange circle appears on the main screen on the Track icon, to serve as a reminder. If you forget about it, it will resume recording when it is next turned on.
What is curious about this is that even when the built in recorded track gets fragmented in a RUT situation, the recorded track does not.
(RUT situation - is a term I used to describe the behaviour of the XT when deviating from the route. It sometimes repeatedly insists you go back to the point of deviation rather than calculating a new route to the next route point. This is something that it does in certain circumstances (eg if you pressed skip at some time beforehand, and the route is recalculated), but it never does it with 'Saved' routes. So we have a few fixes for this behaviour - one of which you can perform on your XT1 screen.)
If you are not talking about the light blue line, then I haven't got a clue !
The XT1 does not have the popular routes, Michelin scenic routes etc that come with the XT2.
